Just a quick question. I have noticed when I'm camping that when people walk around in my TT that it shakes quite a bit. I have a 30' trailer with two slides. It has 4 scissor stablizers, one on each corner, cranked down pretty snug. I have the tounge jack on the front holding weight too. The tires are blocked so they aren't rolling around.
What else can I do to elimate the shaking when people walk around? Do I need to put the stablizers down harder? They already start to lift or the frame a bit when I put them down. Or is the rig just bouncing around on the springs and I should live with it? 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD crewcab, Duramax 2007 Keystone Cougar 304BHS |

Until you get the frame completely supported with rigid jacks and the tires off the ground, you will get some movement.
I use a chock to lock the tires and then level the trailer, just a bit nose low. I run the rear stabilizers down to just snug. Them I raise the front of the trailer to level and run down the front stabilizers hard. It's one of the joys of mobile RVing. You will find you can stabilize better from time to time, but other times the movement is really bad. One thing that will help is to keep all of the jacks, including the tongue jack, as short as possible by putting blocks under them. This helps but still does not eliminate all movement.

A lot of people on this board and another board that I read have reported success by using the chocks that squeeze between the tandem axle wheels.
Rotochok is mentioned more than any other brand. They are pricey but people swear by them. Here is a link: Rotochok '06 F-550 PSD Tow Boss, Quad Cab, Air Ride Suspension, Standard Pickup LB Box, In-Dash NAV. AirRide Hitch 33' Kountry Star by Newmar Wife, 2 Siberian Huskies |

if your stablizers are at the far end front and rear it will help if they are set in from the ends by maybe 4~6' depending on how long the trailer is. Also if they are at the far end of there stroke mening all the way up they are not as effective. Tire chocks that push on both tires and and expand seem to help a good amount also.

thanks for the tips guys!
I think I'll try making some blocks to put under the stablizers and tounge jack. It seems I usually have them extended quite a bit. 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD crewcab, Duramax 2007 Keystone Cougar 304BHS |

As has been recommended, purchase a 8 foot long pressure treated 4" X 4". Cut it into 12" long pieces and use these to keep the extension of your scissors jacks to a minimum. Also purchase one of the screw type tire chocks that fit between the tires and expand against the tires. One of these will help greatly, and two of them along with stacked 4 X 4's under your scissors jack pads will eliminate most "rockin and rollin."

I find that it helps to put blocks behind the wheels and then back up tight against them and then block the front side of the same axle.

We noticed the same thing and added another set of Scissor Jacks in the middle. Now it's much more stable!
THey make these jacks where you can bolt them on, weld them on or just set them underneith and use them only when you notice more movement. Good Luck |

the wheel chocks that expand between the two tires is the way to go , takes 2 mins to install them and stops the shake front to rear . The Key is to keep your sissor jacks as short as poss,if its in a park for the summer get some cement blocks and only crank down a few inches. 2001 Holiday Rambler 31' cks 10000 lbs loaded 2006 2500hd duramax/allison crew cab |
