I just purchased a new fifth wheel (Cameo) and just noticed that the bottom portion of the landing gear is black on one and silver on the other. Does this mean one was replaced (it is a new unit)? Is there some logic to this? Should I be concerned? Anyone else have this happen to them? Thanks,

Ted

It's probably nothing to worry about, but if it were me, I'd call my dealer and ask them about it.

They are painted before they are installed on a trailer. Perhaps one was retracted, the other extended. Thus, one unpainted, the other painted. This may not be true for your instance, but you gotta admit it sounds good. Make that call to be sure.

If I bought a trailer new and the landing legs didn't match, I think I'd ask the dealer what was up with that...

If someone bent a leg and they replaced it, as long as nothing else was damaged I'd be OK with it- as long as I was told.

Otherwise, I like the rattle can solution.

It may be when they assembled it they just got them off of different pallets.

I had a fifth wheel that I has purchased from a dealer in Denver and did not notice until I repacked the wheel bearings that it had two different style of wheels 2 of one and 3 of a different type. And the only way I found out was when I went to use the “peanut” holes to left the wheels that my fingers would fit in one and not the other. Very little difference but it was there.
