Hello, we are searching for a trailer and are looking at several different kinds. We have our eye on a Jay flight G2 29 FBS . This is our first trailer and we will mostly leave it parked as we don't even own a truck! Can anyone comment on the Jayco trailers. We are also looking at a Rockwood Trailer. Thanks!

You might want to use the Find function and do a search on Jayco to see what others have said previously. I can only give you our experience - we've owned three (3) Jaycos, a big ole Cardinal pop-up (our first RV) and two (2) Designer 5th wheels. All have given us years of good, reliable service with the only problems related to typical RV buyout items - a Norcold fridge, Todd Engineering power converters, a Goodyear Marathon tire, etc. In each case except the tire failure which was handled directly with Goodyear, Jayco was quick to step to the plate and take care of the problem. In several cases, I just took the defective part to the dealer and received a replacement that I installed myself. After a couple of Todd Engineering power converter failures, Jayco even OKed my replacing the converter with a Progressive Dynamics Intellipower converter at their expense. In summary, Jayco has a good reputation for standing behind their products and satisfying their customers - check their 2+3 warranty out (I assume they still have it) as an example.

Thank you. We really like the 29 footer and the 31 foot models. We will be parking it at a campground. Am I correct in assuming we can offer at least 20 % off the MSRP for new models?

Never forget - it's your money. You can offer anything you like...it's then up to the dealer to decide, in today's economic climate, if he/she wants to accept your offer or wait for the next buyer to come along. Today, that dealer might be in for a pretty long wait!

As a rule of thumb, discounts get deeper as prices go higher. I would think if you wind up at 20% off of MSRP at this price level, you've made a pretty good deal.

You do know that you can get MSRP from Jayco's website, right? It keeps the dealer from playing any games. Some have been known to create their own MSRP "Mulroney" sheets.

Thank you for your help. We live in Canada, so the MSRPs might be a little different, but I will compare it with the dealers MSRP. How long could we expect a Jayco trailer to last?

Where in Canada are you? I'm in Alberta and I just saved about $10k buying a Jayco 30.5 BHS & pullrite hitch from the States.

I missed your questions, I bought the trailer from Marden Trailer Sales in Great Falls Mt. The difference between their price and RV Directs wasn't enough to pay for the trip from Alberta to pick it up.

I have owned a few 5ers but in my opinion the Jayco designer series are very good units. I owned one for 9 years at it was trouble free. right to the end. I also had trouble with my Todd converter and Jayco replaced it with a PD unit also. Jayco consistently stepped up to fix things even after the coverage expired. They are gracious and always ready to help. In todays world of non existent coverage or the who cares attitude so commonly displayed by rv producers, Jayco stands above others in their customer care.
