I am a long time viewer of this forum but was not a registered member prior to this post. While traveling, a warning alarm sounded, all dash gauges including silverleaf went blank and the engine shut down. I immediately pulled over. I tried restarting the engine and it did start but the gauges and silverleaf was still dead. We drove to a safer location and tried to reset the vansco system, it did not reset. I called a fellow Apline owner for some assistance. Since we were in a remote location and assistance was not available we decided to cautiously travel to an RV Park. We felt that something caused a short and I would trouble shoot once safely in camp. Turned out I had adjusted our GPS just prior to the problem. I checked the 12 volt outlet in the drivers compartment that the GPS was plugged into and found the nut that connected one of the wires to the outlet was loose. I tightend the nut and tried resetting the vansco and everything worked again.

Traveling Raven,
congratulations on your elevation from "Lurker" status and welcome to the forum. Your post points out that poor connections and loose grounds probably account for a lot of our problems. Always wise to check connections and grounds before looking for a bigger problem Again, welcome to the forum and post often Hugh & Cyndi Reed 2007 Alpine Limited SE 40FDQS 2003 Honda Element EXP ACA, Alpine So Cal |
