We just came back from a short trip in the North Carolina mountains - speed dropped to 39 This did not happen with the 03 Essex - anyone else having this problem?

Not normal get it into a Cummins Atlantic location in either Columbia, Spartanburg or Charleston or go to Cummins Power South in N Augusta ASAP |

We set up an appointment in Columbia and they could not find anything wrong. We are headed up to Indiana next week and guess we will see what happens in the mountains this time. May have to have the Cummins guys in Elkhart look at it again.

Did you manually downshift early enough to maintain speed? Did you accelerate early enough to help maintain speed?
I know that on occasion I have been caught off guard and accelerated or downshifted late. The result was a severe bleed off of speed. Will have to check with George to answer your questions. What we did find out that on a 7% grade everyone else is slowing down to that speed as well. So much for the K-2 Chassis saying you will pass others on steep inclines.

One relatively easy way to look at this is to take the actual weight of your 03 and devide it by the engine HP and do same for your 07 and compare the results. This will be one indication of possible reason for the perceived difference in performance. |

I had the same problem in our 2007 MADP. It was time for me to get the oil changed so I had them also put new fuel filters in and what a difference. I can now climb the hills a lot easier. You should also check your water separator for water in in the bowl.
