We finally have got to use our Torrey Pine!!

It was delivered in Nov. of '07 and we didn't go south as planned so winterized it and there it has sat. Been too cold to do much of anything inside.

We finally got it loaded earlier this week and hit the road Wed. It pulls easily and the truck seems to handle it just fine.

Our first night out was not the greatest but caulk it up to "getting the bugs out" of a new rig. We lost our central heat and only had one leg of our 50 amp. Hubby did some creative wiring at the breaker box and got us some "juice" so the electric fireplace worked, and the micro so we had a bit of heat and dinner. We were in Nebraska so things are still a bit cool.

The next day we called Newmar and they recommended American RV in Loveland, CO as a auth. service center. Gave them a call and explained our situation and they said to come right in. Once there, they got us and the 2 cats settled in the waiting area and took the rig right in. About an hour later they came and got us and said the heater was fixed. Turned out a high limit switch had failed. We also replaced the 50 amp elec. cord. The locking end had quit...not sure why, but it did. So with a new cord and heater, we are fixed up.

Nice to find good service when on the road. So far we really like the rig...this is our first 5ver.

Hopefully we won't have any more major bugs, but then this is an RV and we know how that goes. Newmar was a big help and we sure appreciated the service at this dealership.

Save travels to you all. We hope to be on the road about 6 weeks.

Congratulations on your maiden voyage. Glad service was good for you and it was some simple things.

Have fun. The first trip w/a new RV seems to always be an adventure in many different respects.

We are home after 5 weeks in the 5ver. Every thing worked fine after the first night. We have several modifications we want to do to make it "ours". We are impressed with the quality, even tho' it isn't a fancy rig by any means.

With fuel prices as they are, we probably won't get to go much, but sure enjoy it when we do.

Shorter trips will be it this summer. There are a few Newmar in-state rallies that we hope to go to. Would like to go to the National, but we spent our fuel $ to go see family. Hubby's dad just turned 94 and we thot' it was more important to see him this year.

Looking forward to some warmer weather so we can work on the 5ver and do some modifications. Nothing major but we want to change out the water pump for it is under the sink and so noisy. We have other projects planned when spring decides it can stick around for awhile!

After having a Class A for so many years, we really did enjoy the 5ver. This one is a bit large to haul around alot, but we made the best of it and enjoyed it. It would make a great permanent 5ver in some park for it has a lot of storage inside. If it gets to where we can't go anywhere, we may park it down south and leave it there.

We bought our new 2008 Kountry Aire 5th wheel from Wilkins RV in Bath, NY a couple weeks ago.

We ordered the unit in January and were originally planning on buying it in mid-April just after it was shipped and received from the factory, but after seeing the condition it was in then (the inside was a DISASTER, and the carpet needed to be replaced among other things) we left Wilkins with a list of 20 plus items needing repairs, and returned to complete the purchase on May 13.

However, all of the repairs had still not been completed when we got there (although promised by the dealer) so we stayed in it in the dealer's parking lot for a week, while we waited for the work to be completed.

We left Wilkins on May 19th, planning to stop in Elkhart, IN so that the DigiShield people could install their protective film on the front top end cap of our trailer (something they had not done before). When we got to the campground in Elkhart and opened our slide outs, there were more of the same problems - grease and abrasions on the carpet, serious abrasions on the cermic tile, wet carpet, etc. - that Wilkins supposedly had just repaired.

My wife and I were sick! What to do? Call Newmar, of course.

We were told that all of Newmar's service department was fully booked, but that we could bring the trailer in so they could see and document our concerns. The trailer wouldn't be fit to live in if we contined to Montana, where we planned to stay in it until October, so we towed it the short distance to the plant the first thing Thursday morning.

After meeting with a couple wonderful Newmar people, they somehow found a way to fit us in for service the first thing Friday morning. Arlan Herr, and others working with Devon Miller, tackled these items head on, and by the end of the work day had fixed every item.

It seems that incorrect rollers had been installled on one slide out (smaller rollers intended for tile were installed over the carpet), the rollers on another slide out were very dirty causing the tile to abraid, and there was a water leak in one slide that needed to be sealed, plus other items.

I can't say how happy I am now, and thankful to Newmar for getting us in for service and correcting these issues.

My wife and I are now sitting along the banks of the Yellowstone River, 35 miles north of Yellowstone Park, enjoying the sunrise over the snow capped mountains just east of us, and enjoying our new Kountry Aire greatly...at last!

John

You did the right thing going to Newmar its to bad but to get thinks done right its what most have found to be the case. Nod
Most dealers haven't the time or know how to fix some of the problems you may have.
Enjoy your 5th and happy travels. Big Hand
