Well, I joined a long time back, but at the time, I didn't think I'd actually buy an RV.

I inherited a little money when my mom passed away just after Thanksgiving. I thought about taking some of it and using it toward a condo in Ocean City, MD. I'd rent it when I didn't use it. It would be a family getaway.

The more I thought about it, the more it just didn't look like a good investment, I'd be "stuck" just going there for vacations, and worrying about renters.

Instead, I decided to sink a smaller amount (but still large) of cash into a depreciating asset that requires feeding and maintenance. Oboy

I started out looking at travel trailers, specifically Airstreams. I just couldn't find a floorplan that I liked for me, my wife, the 4 year old boy and 22 month old girl.

I moved to conventional travel trailers. Ah, the bunkhouse models looked great. Put the kids to bed and still have the main living area available. Plus, that area doubles as a play room.

Then I thought some more (people around me said they smelled smoke at the time). Wouldn't it be great to have a motorhome that could tow the Road Runner to shows?

I looked at Super C bunkbed models (again, put the kids to bed, have the main living are available). The Jayco Seneca vs. Gulfstream Endura.

Then I made the faitful trip to look at a Newmar Ventana and a used Jayco Seneca. The Ventana won hands down, except for price.

Because of all of that, you now have a newbie asking typical newbie questions.

As someone once told me, there are no stupid questions, but there are stupid people who ask questions.

.....and we might give stupid answers from time to time, not intentionally, of course. Wink

And I appreciate that! I've been looking through it and watching RV Roadtrips.

I picked up my aluminum car trailer today which is both lighter and shorter than my previous car trailer.
