As an owner of a 06 MADP 4304, I can say that the 06 MMGT Spartan Chassis / Newmar Coach is superior to most (not all) other '06 coaches. I traded up from a Fleetwood Revolution on Freightliner chassis which was a significant upgrade in handling, ride and quality. The '08 K2 with Comfort Drive is another significant step up, but so is the price and the ongoing cost of depreciation, especially in the first year. The '08 MSRP is more than $120K more than the '06 and the depreciation percentage will be no different, just greater absolute dollars each year. Don't missunderstand my posting, I am considering selling my '06 and trading up as well ('09 model year). It's only money.

Unless the dealer is selling the 06 at a USED price I would steer clear. For me the price would have been so great that we would not be talking about the comparison. Most of the time a dealer will have a lot of money tied up with a old NEW coach and will try to recoup the money. It is a catch-22 they need to sell it to get the coach off the lot but they want to get 08 coach dollars for it. So it sits on the lot with the slides out (slide toppers and tires in the elements) and the batteries working and people walking through it. I am speaking from experience, and it was only 06 vs. 07. Granted a 08 will cost more but for that difference it will be newer (not sitting on the lot for 2 years) more bells and whistles and have the same warranty. I understand every body wants a good deal, sometime the best deal isn't the cheapest. Just my 2 cents.

Well, we tried both coaches and decided to go with the 08. The comfort drive was very evident in the 08. Overall, the 08 drove better and we will have the ability to get exactly what we want.
I really appreciate the comments and help.
Thanks again,

Mike

Ken, I thought you might chime in. But honestly, this among other things. is a definate distinguishing difference from any other manufacturer. Good thing they didn't offer the Comfort Drive demo last year. Newmar would be swamped with orders and the other manufacturer's would be closing.

I have been a late bloomer to the "great" advantages to Comfort Drive as opposed to the driving characteristics of my former coaches, but coming home from Colorado this week I cranked out 600 miles in one day to get home with only one time out of driver's chair (for fueling). While I did not "dance all night" as the Comfort Drive advertisement says, I was not excessively tired. Kansas has some tremendous side winds and the state seems to go for two days and a night, but the mild manners of CD were great.

You will be glad you chose the 08 K2.
