At 26,700 miles our fan bearing failed. With no warning the engine overheated, and started leaking coolant. I called the nearest CAT service center, much to or surprise we were only 4 miles away. They advised us to let the engine cool, restart, turn on the cockpit heat and drive to the service shop. Upon arrival we pulled the bed apart, opened up the engine hatches, and found the fan bearing very loose. The tech said that I was lucky the fan didn't come completely off and damage the radiator. Fan belt was shredded and some debris was in the alternator fan.

New fan belt came in from NAPA, shop had bearing parts, our tech Jesse did great work. After 6 hours of work the repair was complete and we were on our way. Many thanks to Ziegler of Fergus Falls, MN on good work and prompt service. With the exception of the fan belt, costs were covered by the warranty.
