Well today I had the rear shocks replaced. Put Koni's on to go with the fronts I put on about 8 months ago.
I only drove the motorhome about 10 miles and mostly interstate but I did notice there isn't as much bounce when I hit a dip in the road. When I earlier replaced the fronts it greatly reduced the porpoising effect so I'm hopeful that with the rear's now working in conjunction I will notice a greatly improved ride. Still can't get rid of that jolt up front when I hit bumps though. Letsgoagain 04 HR Ambassador 38 PDQ ISC 330 Cummins, Three camera color vision system and VSMpc so far. |

Letsgoagain....I was expecting a little smoother ride when I installed the rears, but was really surprised that it cornered even better than before....more stable.

I just replaced my orig. Bilsteins with the FSD's yesterday. It only took about 20 minutes per axle, mostly due to the fact that I cleaned and lubed the bolts and new shock bushings with salt waterproof bearing grease. They were a bit hard to get off, even with the air-impact gun.
I will have to test them tomorrow as the coach is "resting" for another day due to the new windshields being re-installed yesterday to correct the original poor installation. I'll report back how the ride has changed, if noticable. '98 Gulfstream Sun Voyager Bus with 275HP-800FT/#, Allison 6-spd. |

I replaced the Billsteins with the Koni FSD's this past weekend. I installed 4 front shocks and after driving it here is my thoughts:
Before not only could I hear the bumps and seperations in the road but I also felt them as well (that hard jarring feeling along with most of the interior cabinets shaking and electronic items rattling and squeeking against the wood.) The new Koni's made a big difference. I can still hear the seperations and bumps in the road but no longer can I feel them any more. Now it actually feels like there are shocks or something that is cushioning those bumps before it gets into the cabin. I really didn't notice a difference in handling or body roll around a turn (that area seems to be the same and it's fine). The bad news is, now I want the to purchase the back ones and this whole shock episode is costly, but it's worth it because it definately made a difference. 1997 39' Monaco Dynasty 325hp |

For those on this thread that changed to Koni how about an update? Better ride? Worth the $$?
Would be particularly interested in anyone on the RR4R. Bob 07 HR Neptune 36PDQ, ISB 325 Cummins, Allison 2500 07 Ford Sport Trac 4x4, Demco Excali-Bar, Brake Buddy |

The Koni's are worth the money but don't assume your coach will ride like a Newell or Prevost. What the Koni's did for me was control the front end. The coach no longer launches itself over bumps. The Monroe's were shot at 12k miles and did very little to control the coach. You could easily push them in and out. The Koni's stopped the sharp jarring of pavement segments, now heard more than felt but do not eliminate them. It's difficult to quantify the improvement over rough pavement but they do help soften the impact. The torture test for me is I49 in Louisiana. A horrible road with abrupt concrete segment joints and multiple dips. On a recent trip to Bilxi the trip was much better. Not great but at least the dog stayed in her bed. The trip was much more relaxing and did not require slowing to 50 mph.
If you have the Monroe shocks they are probably worn out if you have more than 10k miles. Point is, you NEED new shocks and don't replace them with Monroe. So, you're going to spend some $$ anyway so go with a better shock. I have no first hand experience with the Bilsteins and cost a little less than the Koni's but numerous posts suggest the Koni's ride better than the Bilsteins, at least on the front. mark Dawn and Mark 06 HR Endeavor 40 PET 05 Taco Pusher Molly and Cassie - the little buddies |

I just put the Koni FSD's on my HR Endeavor. Worth the money. Ride is smoother and takes the curves better as well. Smooths out the bumps like everyone else has stated.
