From all the reviews on the Koni FSD's, I went ahead and ordered 4 shocks for the front of the motorhome. I feel confident that this will improve the ride quality. It's not like I am going anywhere soon with temps in the teens and single digits, but from what I have gathered from Koni and other dealers, these shocks are being purchased at a faster rate than they can produce them and I just didn't want to sit and await any back order process. Koni already has expressed that they will be available once again in another two months. I called the shox shop and they had 12 FSD 8805-1004 and now they have 8 left. I am just doing the fronts for now.

Thanks to all for the helpful information. Contacted the Shox Shop and they said I needed 8805-1004 for front and 8805-1005 for rear. They said they had 4 of each left "at the old price of 124.99, and then the price would be going up to 159.99.
Then I checked the Koni site. Those shocks have eye fittings at each end, and are appropriate for Roadmaster RR8R chassis between 1993-2002. After 2002, they went to the eye/pin style with numbers of 8805-1016 and 8805-1017 for front and rear respectively. So I called the Shox Shop on the phone. They appologized for quoting wrong, and said they had just 4 left in the correct configuration "at the old price" of $129.50, then the price would go up to $159.99. (Hmmm, that is starting to sound familiar. Anyway, I ordered all 8 of "the last ones they had at the old price" because it was the best price I found on the net. (Somehow, I suspect that other buyers may also be able to pick up a set of those "last ones available at the old price" as well, if they hurry. After reading all the reports here, and on other forums, I can't wait to get them on and hopefully enjoy a much smoother ride. |

Question...
If the ride height was adjusted correctly with the stock Monroe shocks, does anyone know if it should be checked again after replacing the Monroe's with eight new Koni FSD shocks? |

robin, the shocks on your coach are not supporting the weight. they control the action of your air bag suspension. no other ride hight adjustment are necessary. jim

Well, I got my new Koni shocks installed last week. Today, I took the coach out and drove around on different roads to see how much difference the new shocks make. I did some highway driving, and took the coach over railroad tracks, bridge expansion joints, and onto some back roads. Do the Koni's make a difference? The answer is decidedly "YES", they do smooth out the bumps and the difference is definitely noticeable. Handling is also improved with a noticeable reduction in the amount of sway when going around corners or over uneven surfaces. That said, I cannot tell you that the improvement was tremendous, or that my coach now rides like it was on a Prevost bus chassis. It doesn't.
So, I guess the next question would be, "Was the improvement worth the thousand dollar investment?" To me it was, because I enjoy the fact that my ride and suspension performance are the best that they can be. Others may be disappointed in the "return on investment" considering the cost to replace the OEM shocks with Koni FSD shocks. |
