Good evening,
Does anyone know where you get replacement raidator hoses for motorhomes?
I'm sure that the hoses have to be specific to certain models of motorhomes because of the difference between manufacturer's. Does this mean I have to order them from Monaco only or can they be matched up at a good parts place.

let's go again:

Are you referring to actual rad hoses or heater hoses. Most trucks use straight rad hose. I am not near my unit today and cannot verify if they are straight or curved. Have you looked to see if there is a part # on the hoses? Gates has an excellent on line catalog complete with sizes. I am guessing they are Cummins parts but should crossover. Are your hoses shot or leaking? 4 years is not much life for a HD hose.

moisheh,
Hello and thanks for the reply.
I'm in the process of changeing the coolant amd thermostat. Thought maybe it would be a good time to possibly change the radiator hoses while I had the ccolant out.
I haven't seen a part number on the hoses but I will look. They are somwhat curved especially the one that goes up to the thermostat.

I don't think you will find specific hoses to fit MH's. Maybe not enough volume or too many variables. As Moisheh said, most radiator hoses are metal (straight sections or short elbows) with rubber/silicon sections joining them together. I think you can also find simple short rubber elbow sections. Recently, I was at a local NAPA that specializes in heavy duty truck parts and a Customer was ordering silicon hose (several feet) to rebuild his rigs cooling system. He also purchased a couple sections of metal hose. Since I was only familiar with rubber hoses I asked him about silicon hoses. He said they last longer than rubber hoses but are more expensive.
Might find a truck parts house that caters to the smaller truck operators. I'd bet they help small operators out all the time.
Truck hoses last much longer than auto hoses but I understand your desire to take the opportunity to replace the hoses. You would kick your self a hundred times if one blew after the coolant change. You might also look into high temp silicon hoses.
BTW, I never heard back about 2 wire/3 wire coolant sensors and reprogramming. I did do a search on Monacoers and could not find a thread discussing reprogramming and sensor conversions. I don't think it is an issue with the ISC/ISL cooling system.

I would not change those hoses. This is not like one of those P30 chasiss with the 454's and lots of heat. I changed all the hoses on my 88 Bluebird last year. Mostly silicone straight rad hose and curved metal pieces. You do not want to know the cost of the hoses and clamps!! I would not touch that job for at least 2 or 3 more years. Did you look at them? Are they aged? Feel them to see if they are brittle. Our 02 Bounder dp still had the original hoses when we sold it and they are fine. Do youi know how you are going to flush out all the old AF. Not easy on a dp with hoses running the full length to the heater. Do you have the right AF? If you want to save some money buy the full strength diesel product and use distilled water from Wal Mart. It is about 74 cents a gallon.

Moisheh and Sixpack98,
You are right in that some of the radiator hoses are actually metal sections with short sections of rubber hose that join sections together or where they attach to something like the thermostat housing. I found this out as I was working on it today. On one such short rubber elbow hose there was a part number on it so I feel certain I could go to a truck parts store and find it.
After looking at the conditon of the hose I took off I decided it was still in good shape so I put it back on. Yes I will kick myself if it fails on me.
Basically on the flush I turned the heater on after I had drained the coolant and refilled with water. This way the coolant in the heater lines was flushed. I did this several times until I got nothing but clear water out of my drains. I feel certain I got the old coolant out as there wasn't anything but clear water in the drains, coolant tank and engine head where I took the thermostat out.
So far no issues with false sensor readings or any kind of engine alarms so I think the two wire tank sensor is a non issue for me. Can't say what would happen with a three wire.
