Since we're on the rear differential subject, how exactly do you check the fluid level?

Remove the inspection plug, on the rear center section, as viewed from the rear of coach, fluid should be even with bottom of threads, or just trickle out.
Drain plug is at the bottom facing the ground. Richard 2006 Revolution 40L, 400HP Cat |

abarkl, Thanks for posting this tip, it's a very important consideration. You can immediately tell if there's water in the differential fluid because it'll present as a milky dark brown color and perhaps with small bubbles. The differential is also observed to be over filled and when the fluid drains out you will be able to clearly see the contamination. Extended periods of contamination will damage and ruin the gear set. This message has been edited. Regarding the front wheel bearings. My rig has 40K on it. I bought it with 36K and no records of any lube. Suggestions??

What do you do to check the auto park brake?
Thanks Garth |

if you tow frequently, you should immeditley change to synthetic if not equipped. and then change fluid every 1-2 years depending on milage and heat conditions.
the safe thing to do is 1 time a year. i do a annual maintenance for all my customers and the people who spend a little money on the rigs have 0 problems. i reccomend synthetic yearly... also change brake fluid once every 2 years. and also flush radiators every two years. trust me. motorhomes are very wearable. but if you keep them up they last forever. |
