The P12s are not my area of expertise, but rest assured, the P42, P32, RDP, W-series, etc. are.

Parts_expert: We appreciate your forthright correction, and "rest assured" we appreciate the knowledge you bring to iRV2.com Thumbs Up ED

Here's a link to a .pdf file:

SE: I could not get the link to work. I hope you will share more info about your P-12, as apparently not much is known. The google search I did led me to conclude the P-12 is essentially a P-32, but with a solid I-Beam front axle. I understand it was also built to provide a greater GVWR than the P-32. Please enlighten us! ED

Please join my Yahoo! Group: The_P12_Chassis_Group @ Yahoo.com

I started it just because of the reasons you mentioned, very few made, and etc. In the Files Section is a .pdf file that shows several line drawings of the P12 Chassis.

The W20 WCC is a dead ringer (almost) for a P12. Same front and rear axle loading. Same square tubing front sway bar. Same 208" WB.
Same ZF 8090 steering gear with a 50* wheel cut. Same 19.5" wheels and tires, with the 22.5" option. Same GVWR (within a few #s).
Parked side by side, they appear the same...

Hi Parts_Expert,

All the references to VIN numbers have the same format with a "P" followed by 5 numbers ending in 32, 42, 52, 62, 12. None of this matches what I have.

It's a 1995 chassis, VIN 1GBLP37N8S3312214, and we've had it called a P30, P32, and P37. What's up with this one?

Thanks!

Mac

P32 is the only 'real' model name out of those three, so that is what you have there. Keep those other two in the back of your head though, as many aftermarket sources have adopted those terms out of picking digits from a vin and reading full model names wrong.

Just to make sure I understand, the number "32" won't necessarily appear anywhere in the VIN of a P32 chassis. Right?

never, but 'p32' is a vin sequence on earlier p42/step van chassis

and you have a P32032 as a full model name of your vehicle
