Zing 70, I see that this is your first post...congratulations for joining of of the best sources for the rv'er on the internet!

Post often & let us know how your issues get worked out... hopefully with a good ending.

Details on the Engine Vent Kit from WH can be found HERE.

Something else you may consider is an UltraPower performance upgrade on the engine from Brazel's. They've installed many UP's and have never had a reported burnt plug wire. I personally have had two episodes of burnt wires before modifications. My 8.1 has been lugging around 26,000 lbs for over 20K miles with UP & vent kit and no more burnt wires. Give Brazel's a call & they can explain the theory behind the rich mixture/hot manifolds and their programming changes. Plus you'll like the additional 60 hp and 1/2 mpg. My mpg went from 6.7 to 7.2 mpg.

Good luck,

Duner, I wish that were true however Jestme13 had an UP upgrade, plugs & Taylor wires installed in Nashville at the iRV2 National Rally on his Monaco Trek and he continued to burn through wires and he had the vent kit installed at the time.

That said, the new style Taylor Extreme wires where the boots go all the way up to the head may prove to be a more effective to prevent wire burn outs.

The entire affair is largely dependent on assuring a good fit of the rubber fabric that is positioned over the top of the radiator and engine enclosure design.

The vent kit has proven to be effective in a wide majority of cases where one or more wires have repeatedly burnt out.

The vent kit is not a proactive measure but is a response to a condition. If you are currently not burning wires like in my case there is a good chance that you never will. Smile

OK, I know not to make that statement anymore. The Brazel's guys need to know this too.

My hunch is that if Jestme13 could get his coach to the dyno in Brazel's shop in Centralia, WA, I bet they would find some anomaly causing the fried wires. Then we might be able to make that statement again.

Duner, You could have put Steve's machine of 4 dynos and it wouldn't help. The problem was all in the fascia and engine enclosure. Powered bilge pump blowers were later installed and most likely provided relief for the wires however Steve traded in the vehicle before we heard the results. Smile
