Mike,
I just went back and read some old posts. You say the fuel ratio should be 14.5 to 1 but the units you tested are 11.7 to 1. Do you check the fuel ratio before programming to see if it is in spec? What if I send you my PCM. Can you tell by looking at my program? If it is in fact supposed to be 14.5 (actually Workhorse says 14.7) to 1 but actually 11.7 then it sounds to me like there is an error in the programming and it should be covered under warranty. I understand your programming changes a lot of other parameters but this is the only one I am interested in since I an happy with the power and mileage. I just have the plug boot burning issue.

Thanks

we can look at the files inside your computer and see if there is a problem--all the files we work on are designed to perform as efficiently as possible. Obviously if there is an external problem causing it to run rich a code would be set and the problem would need to be corrected. The computer cannot fix a problem outside itself.
Thanks for your interest,
Steve

I guess I didn’t ask the right question. Workhorse said the fuel ratio should be 14.7 to 1 (you said 14.5 to 1, close enough). You say that most coaches you tested were 11.7 to 1 (too rich). If Workhorse says 14.7 but in reality it is 11.7 (too rich), shouldn’t this be corrected under warranty?

LeeB, the Newmars have not had this problem, some other problems you can check for are the shocks see if they have been changed with Monroe's or Blistiens to elimiate porposing in the front and also if they have a bulb weather strip in the top crack of hood opening if its placed it will elimate water getting into the air intake horn. The strip can be placed yourself to correct water problem. Click on my posts and on page 50 you will have info on how to install. Newmar does have a fix a cap over the air intake or a tube raising the intake above the grill opening the weather strip is working for many of us when its placed it will move the intake the height of your hood opening stopping water from entering. "007" Thanks for the heads up... I will check the shocks. I am buying used and it has Firestone Air Bags that much I do know... I will be able to look closer when I get the MH home.... I want to check on the things that Driver has posted about also... For all I know these things could all ready be done... After all who ever owned the MH be fore me cared enough to install Air Bags... Time will tell and I will post more as time goes by...

Thanks again...Lee

Now to figure out how to post pictures Program

Sorry to say, but if the previous owner installed the airbags, maybe he did it to resolve a handling problem. Good news is, My Rexhall has the Firestone airbags installed at the factory and my coach handles VERY well. I have been following this forum for a long time now and if you don’t get your questions answered before SAL, we will sit down and talk.

I'm curious.....if one should encounter a spark plug wire problem on the road........do most auto parts have them in stock....are they a special plug lead for the 8.1 or can you use something else......just to get home on?? I have a Southwind 32VS...and haven't had any problem, has anyone else with a Fleetwood motorhome?? Thanks
Brian

I did pick up a set of Autolite plug wires from Pep Boys to have on hand and have had to use 2. Chevy dealer have them too but are pricey.
