I have an 02 8311 Sea Breeze. Just bought it a couple months back and love it. In the winter I tow a toyhauler with our ATV's to ride in the sand dunes. The coach does not have a trailer brake so I went and purchased a Prodigy from tekonsha. Tekonsha has (2) adapters available for Fords. I looked up and down under the dash and am not able to find an available connector that will fit either of the Tekonsha adapters. Somebody please throw a brother a bone here, Pictures or past experiences would be sincerely appreciated.

This appeared either in this forum or the Good Sam forum...If you're running a Ford F-53, the connector you're looking for should be (could be) on the steering column, taped to it.

So I took the base cover off of the steering column, then I contorted myself under the dash, then I removed the dash bezel and I could not find it for the life of me. I found the computer port connection but that's it. Somebody out there... Please HellllllllllP!

The only two things I can help you with is: I've been told the terminal for a brake controller is either taped or tie-wrapped to the lower part of the steering column...

If not, then I must presume your unit doesn't have one, and you're going to have to hard wire the controller in...and run the wiring for the round 7 (AND the round 7 connector) all the way to the rear of the coach.

Other than the fact you may get back spasms contorting, if it were me I would do one of two things:
1- Where you bought the controller, take it back and have them install it.

2- If they won't or can't do the install, get a refund...go to another store, buy their controller with installation.

So I ended up pulling the instrument panel out and after some extensive searching... I found it. While looking under the dash and from the top, I was searching for an open connector. Knowing what the connector should look like, I could not find it. All of the sudden I see a batch of wire wrapped toghether in a plstic baggy type thing. There it was, it was actually the pig-tail connected to the connector that I was looking for. It had the wiring color breakdown. With that, it was easy to connect the wires to my controller pig-tail.

Now I have to go to the back of the coach to see if that blue wire is attached to the currect conector. I have a 7 pin connector on my trailer which looks standard to me. The coach has I think a 5 pin round connector. At least I am making foraward progress.

BTW, I would not have been able to find this from the bottom of the dash!

Well...you got it. If I ever have to do the same, I'll surely keep your commentary in mind.

Yes...as far as I know, the BLUE wire is the brake wire. I doubt if it extends to the round 5, by experience has only found the blue wire in the round 7. (But that's up for grabs).

So...the hard part's done. Snap your connectors together, find where the blue wire goes...and just run wires the 30-odd feet back to a new round 7 and splice in and mount the connector.

Let us know how you make out.
