Received my notice on fuel bracket/fuel line campaign, scheduled work and had it accomplished at Cummins West in Sacramento, Ca.
All went well.
I asked them to check the engine for a minor oil seepage that has appeared at my parking area. BOY was I shocked when the tech and service writer described to me that I need a new block. Apparently there is a plug on the engine block, similar to a freeze plug, that is leaking. At some time in the life of the block this plug was epoxied and is now leaking and the only fix is a new block. Anew short block will be installed later this month. My coach is an 06, but the engine by serial number is an 05 400ISL.

Ouch, that would be bad news. If that diagnosis was from a dealer I would call Cummins to confirm but since it was Cummins West they are not trying to put the pencil to you or Cummins. Hopefully they can get you back on the road quickly.

I just had that same bracket and fuel line installed and it would have left me speechless if I had been told that a new engine block was needed.

I haven't hear of a previous incident like yours though. Hope they resolve everything to your satisfaction

I'm very happy I had the mod done as soon as I heard it covered MH's. When we were in Hilton Head last week the guy next to me had his fuel line blow out. Cummins was great and really went out of their way to help with expenses. You could smell the diesel inside the coach. iT really made a mess.

The M/H is in the shop for the new block install. Cummins West of Sacramento figures about 40 hours of labor for disassembly and reassemblly so I hope to get it back in about 10 work days.

Well, its a little more than 10 working days but the coach is ready for pickup. I just spoke to the shop foreman and he said it was buttoned up...no leaks and the dyno test went well. I'll pick the coach up tommorrow PM start packing up and leave for a month on the road in Oregon and Washington.

I picked up my M/H on Wednesday and drove it home...Everything works GREAT. Appearance wise it looks better than when new everything steam cleaned, painted, and in-place. The bill was $100 for the deductible(3rd year of service) and the cost to Cummins about $13,000, $6500 for parts and $6,500 for labor. Engine sounds good and runs good. Packing up and leaving for a roadtrip starting tommorrow.
I highly recommend Cummins West of Sacramento. Steve, Mark and Matt in the shop were knowlegable, helpful, and best of all kept me informed on the status.

I have a 2008 Itasca with a 400ISL. I also have a oil drip on my driveway. I took it to a cummins dealer (2,500 miles) and they replaced the oil pan bolts. It is still leaking. The leak seems to be at the front of the engine.Where was your oil drip ?

I have had my ISL400 in to Cummins 3 times to get the little oil leaks fixed and finally have them stopped. The first time, they found the oil plug was loose (believe it or not) and several loose fittings including the dipstick fitting into the block. The second time, they replaced the oil pan gasket and on the third time, they resolved the leak by changing out the dipstick tube (Newmar warranty issue - plastic tube). No more leaks so I am happy. Luckily, Cummins is only a few miles from my home. I am not sure what you are calling the front of the engine but assuming the front of the engine is in the rear of the coach, the dipstick leak coated the front of the engine and rear of the compartment due to spraying while traveling.

Have now driven approx. 1k miles and all seems well.
The oil seepage was dripping down the pan at about the drain plug. I believe the oil seal/plug was on the side of the engine, but I'm not sure...do know that it was on the block and similar to a water freeze plug.
