Had coach serviced at a Coach Care[cummins] next morning before starting I did my start up check which includes checking oil and found what I think is about 2 qts to much oil. Called service center and told him of my problem and was told the techs put in the required amount [26 qts]as they do this by serial # of oil pan.
I do know that they filled the filters with oil before installing them. He also stated that the oil dip stick may be wrong as I had the tube replaced and I should mark the dip stick to show where the oil should be, high on the stick. Asked than what if it was too much oil, would it do any harm and answer was if it was, it will blow out a little at a time and do no harm. I have a cummins ISC 330 and every thing I read says 24 qtrs. What is the right amount of oil and was the service tech remark true that no harm will be done. Thanks for the answers. 2005 KSDP 3910 2007 Jeep Liberty NKK 16734 FMCA F368935 THE MIND IS LIKE A PARACHUTE, IT MUST BE OPEN TO WORK |

WOW, 26 Qts??? I don't think so. I would check with Cummins again. I bet they will say that its 24 Qts (pan and filter) for the ISC330. You don't want to be blowing out excess oil, it can collect on your radiator and intercooler which will then collect dust and cause cooling problems.

There are multiple oil pans for these engines and that affects the oil capacity, so the Cummins shop may be right. And incorrectly calibrated dip sticks are rampant, because the dip stick is added by the installer rather than coming with the engine. You might want to get that oil pan part number and check with Cummins to see if the right number for your particular engine is 24 or 26 (or something else).
