We just returned from our trip to Niagara Falls Ontario (from Florida) and was more than pleased with performance.

We averaged 8.6 MPG on the way up (1018 miles @118.3 gallons of diesel) going I-95 to I-26 to I-77 to US 19 in WV to I-79 to I-90 to Niagara Falls. That was the shortest route and we were able to avoid a lot of hills.

We averaged 8.3 MPG on the way back (1232 @148.3 gallons of diesel). We visited freinds in Raliegh NC so we came back Niagara Falls to I-90 to I-79 to I-76 to I-70 to US 219 in Pennsylvania to I-68 to I-70 in MD to I-270 to I-95 all the way back home. We ran in to quite a few more hills this go round and had quite a few more detours on side roads (don't always trust your GPS).

Overall impression was great. We ran most of the way on the mid setting (15% boost) but I did stop in a couple of places and crank the boost know to the 30% boost setting to help move up and down the hills better. I did notice the difference in power on the hills, especially the long 6% grades on I-68. Again I do not try and run up and down the hills trying to run a drag race.


We were pulling a Chevy HHR (about 3100 lbs) and did not seem to have any issues at all. The car keps our speed under 65 MPH so we averaged around 62 MPH on cruise when we could. Made some people mad but surely saved wear and tear on us.


I'd recommend the chip (and do all the time).
