Anybody got an "in" on some 4.30 gears for an '04 SuperDuty 4x4 that they'd be willing to share...?

excuse me for not consulting my Guide-of-Ford-Trucks (GIFT) before asking this, ...
but i have the 3.73, ...i really want the 4.10 on my next, ... and I know the big bad burly guys always get the 4.88 gears.

Where and when did the 4.30 become good??

(Don, and other Chev owners, you will notice that GIFT does not apply to you Sorry )

Hey Mikey!!

I'm not up on my gearing history, but I think the 4.30's came about with the 6.0 because of the higher RPMs they run and it was a good substitute for the 4.10's- the main sets I always seemed to hear about were 4.56's and then the 4.88's, but man- you better not want to go very fast with some 4.88's.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it (for now!).

Sean

that makes more sense
I know the 6.0's like the RPM's, so it makes sense they tossed in a 4.3 option in the rear instead of the 4.10's

and yea, a 4.88 would probably NOT be a highway fast cruiser
you just gotta love those guys who get those super heavy trailers and a set of 4.88's though ehhhh??? truckers at heart

what i would like to know though, is who has researched overdrives or underdrives ??

Gear Vendors is just a mile or two down the road from me, but I don't hear the most complimentory things about them.
Any ideas ???
I could really see getting a 4.88 with OVER or a 4.1 with Under.

maybe a U.S. Gears ??
