Sure am Glad everything and everyont there is fine Tom We have used our Gen for lights at the house before we had the Dune Chaser but ours also stays ready to go. everything we take out to laundry or what not is back in rubbermade containers in the garage ready to go back. We have a small amount of freash water in the tank for the toilet and the rest can be filled anyplace. Our system is able to pump water into the tank from 5 any source.

Since ours does have to be winterized we can't stay quite that ready but you can unwinterize pretty fast when needed. Now I just have to go find some more antifreeze, used my last bottle for the house last week and need to rewinterize the warrior.

It's a good idea to use your rig as a potential emergency housing. Unfortunately when we lost power for 4 days last spring, our rig was at the dealer's getting some work done! We are more fortunate than some to have city water, a gas stove and a gas fireplace for some heat. It wasn't super cold in the spring so our pipes were okay.

Lynnvt, There's something to be said for not having a totally electric house under some conditions.
At least we'll have plenty of firewood for next camping season, that is, if I ever get good enough weather to go cut it up. We keep ours pretty much ready to go... It is stored at my rental house and is plugged it there for the winter...
My biggest concern is the fuel that I keep in the tank .. Its only about half full and I use stabilizer but I have a hard time getting over there to run it every month... then come may I pump it all out and run it in my wifes jeep. Then its refill it and off we go... the biggest problem is that the pickup tube for the fuel station is shorter than the one for the generator.... Idea being that even when you pump empty at the fuel station ... the generator will still run... Have yet to spend the time to figure out how to really drain it since there is no low point drain. So I always have some "bad" fuel in the tank at the start of the year... Oh well maybe I will get to it this year... lol I hope whoever has my new truck is taking care of it.... What I have... 30 Foot Thor Wanderer. Fully loaded with 4 Quads, 1 Kayak, 4 bikes, 2 grandkids and a dog... Pulled by a 97 F-350 4x4 Quad cab,Bully Dog w/4 position switch (run @ #4 most of the time), Western Diesel TurboBrake III, Pyrometer preturbo, Autometer Boost gauge, Third tranny cooler and gauge on the piller, Tymar intake, Raven canopy, BD downturn exhaust, Cat ran away, 4:10 rear, Bilstein shocks, Velvet Rides, manual hubs, 295 75R 16 BFG KO A/T's, BB in FPR, Home made ram cold air intake, Eclispe stereo, 203 degree thermostat." |
