So we are spending a month in Bodega Bay with our new boy. He has now spent more of his life camping than at home. Not a bad start! With all the spare time I have finally gotten to some of my projects and taken pictures. Here is an update.
Better Pic of the Exteme Outback Air compressor. Sorry. Made a plate so I could mount it to the mesh bottom of the LP and battery compartment. Moved the water filter from above the Generator housing. I would have to tip the filter to remove from behind everything. The water would spill all over. I added a ball valve also to shut the water flow off. Installed XM radio base next to radio. Went to Radio Shack for a 12v recepticle to supply power to this baby. http://render2.snapfish.com/render2/is=Yup6aQQ%7C%3Dup6...lQQ%7C/of=50,590,442 Our '05 LE doesn't have a TV cabinet. Bolted the flat panel in between the bay windows (most solid stud on this wall). It is out of the way of trafic and the chairs. Installed a Wingaurd satellite at Camping world and put the cable box under the cabinet. The dish is in the hallway between the shower and bath sink. The tape is to indicate North since North will always change depending on our campsite. Needed more coat hangers by the door. This is screwed into studs, not the fridge. Next project is tackling the solar panels and inverter. Will probably go with two 130 watt panels and an 800 to 1000 watt inverter. Not sure wich inverter, but I want a remote switch so I don't have to go outside everytime.

Bear, I can just imagine what your rolling stock looks like all hooked up and ready to roll. What's the length with the jeep on behind?

Installed the IOTA DLS 55 Amp converter and 50 Amp transfer switch today. Took about two hours and most of that was striping the heavy gauge wire on the original 50 Amp cord. I soldered the ends of all wires....I have always been anal about that. It keeps the wires from fraying when you are trying to get them in all the holes. Anyway its works as advertised. I plugged into the house and than started the Onan and about 20 seconds later it switched over. Cool, no more plugging and unplugging the little Honda just so the wife can use the microwave or the blow dryer. One less thing for me to do out in the desert.
The stock setup The IOTO 50 Amp transfer Switch The DLS 55 and the 50 Amp Transfer Switch Drilled a hole through the bottom of the transfer switch and used the stock Gen outlet feed through, then screwed the switch down to the compartment floor. Mounted the DLS 55 in the stock location and wired up the transfer switch. All done and buttoned up Cord all coiled back up. After looking at the push pull switch I read on the side of it that it is rated for 75 amps so I think I should be good their untill this spring when I will upgrade the switch and install 4 Trojans and clean up the mess in the battery compartment. A few other things I have done and not posted. Installed two off on switches and an external speaker jack so I can run speakers out to the fire and not bother the wife watching TV....Or have all 4 going and rock the place. 26" LCD on an Arm Used a pice of lefter over counter top from the kitchen remodel for a key holder. New stereo that has rear inputs and outputs so I can hook the Laptop or IPod up. Also has Sub out That's about it for now Griz 05 2500 HD CC D/A 4WD 06 LE 3505 04 YFZ 450, 04 Banshee, 89 650 Standup One Awesome Wife (Wears the pants) 2 Teenage Daughters (Brats) 2 Boston Terriers (Mutts) 1 Roller Ice Chest (For more Beer!) you can never have enough!!!! |

Nice set up Griz!! Do you have solar also? Does the transfer switch work with solar? I guess it would if solar was strait to batteries. I think you have a little more room in that compartment than my '05 LE3305. Let us know how it works after your first trip if you have the time. Merry Christmas.

Went to Glamis for 5 days during the New years and got to try test the new converter and transfer switch along with the Honda 2000. Boy all I can say is it works as advertised. I would run the heat all night and in the morning I would start the little Honda and It would go into non Econo mode. 1 Hour later at the new converter charge rate of 55 amps the Honda would ease off into econo mode giving me a great new audio queue that the brunt of the charging was complete. I would have already made the coffee and by then the women folk were getting up and making breakfast. If the wife needed the Microwave she just starts the Onan and it transfers over while I sit and drink coffee. After breakfast I turn the Honda off and we are good till the evening. This is with the stereo and TV running most of the day. Another hour at night and off to bed we go. I love this setup. Next will be the four 6 volts and I will really feel confident about all my power needs.
