What is the most effective way to prevent damage to the toad's windshield?
We just got back from a trip through the badlands (we took a side trip on our way home so we were towing) and found several chips in the windshield as well as a large crack. Now we are considering a cover or shield but don't really know the advantages of one over the other.
Do you like one over the other? Can you please explain the advantages of the one you like? Is there a company you have used and liked?

Protect-A-Tow will deflect everything trying to come up between your coach and your toad Protect a Tow.

Chips may be repaired, but the longer you wait after the chip occuring, the success rate lessens proportionally. Crack, replace the windshield. A new one is suprisingly inexpensive, I paid $209(installed) for a new aftermarket windshield for my 02 Chev 1T dually.

I've used the Blue Ox KarGuard Vehicle Protector since I started towing the Saturn in late April of last year. It's easy on, easy off, folds for easy storage (pull one rod out, fold, put the rod back in - slide it in the back of the Saturn or one of coach bays), and I've had no damage to my Saturn. We won't tow without it.

Looked at the Protect-a-Tow website and decided it was for me, until I read their note that it may not work with rear exhaust diesels. Now I'm depressed.

Found a post in Woodall's user forum from an owner who discovered the problem the hard way. He said he was able to modify it fairly easily and it works fine for him. The post was fairly old and I'm not a member of Woodall's.

So I though I'd see if anyone here has had this experience and what was done to overcome the issue.
