We are looking at light weight trailer to tow behind our '07 Colorado and and seen the Flagstaff 18FBR and it seems to be the best bag for the buck as they say. Any coments? or any other trailers? We are going to look at a Gazelle from the Palomino line.

Benny, Please post some more details about your Colorado - engine, transmission, rear axle ratio etc. This will help us to figure out how much TT you can tow. Personally I would look at something like a Trailmanor or a HighLow as they have a smaller frontal area - which I think you will need when towing with a small truck.

Nice truck for a daily drive and occasional light hauling duty, But I think you will be disappointed if you hitch a TT behind it. Personally I think it will be more suited for a tent trailer or very light colapsable trailer of some sort

I dont know the exact details of your truck or trailer your looking at but for the most part any mini truck no mater who makes it is going to have a hard time pulling anything more then 2500 lbs and from a safety stand point sway gets scary with light trucks and car tires ! I always advise owners to get a bigger truck then they need , towing isnt fun if your going 30 miles per hour slower then traffic . I lost the trailer brakes due to a shorted wire inside the rear axel of my old TT my 2500 hd had no problems stopping with 5600lbs of trailer pushing it. I just used caution and finished my trip home ( 200 mile) .

OK, with that info I found that the GM tow rating for your rig is 4000 lbs with a 400lb tounge wt. Of course this rating was based on a standard truck with a 150lb driver at sea level etc. That is why most of us that have been towing for awhile derate this by at least 20% and often 25%. So I would look at TTs that are in the under 3000lb GVWR. What is out there in that range? Pop-ups, small Hybreds, HI-LO and TrailManor all have something in that range. As for brands - I have always liked pre Fleetwood Coleman for Pop-ups - followed by Starcraft. As for Hybreds I have heard good about Jayco and Starcraft, Fleetwood also has a wide range of product. HI-LO and TrailManor are also brands.

Take your time, look close at every rig, buy off the lot if possible.

I checked my 2008 Trailer Life Towing Guide and it listed the '08 4x4 ext. cab Colorado with a 3.7L 5 cylinder auto with 3.73 rear at 5500 lbs. towing limit. I was kind of surprised it was that much for a 5 cylinder. Check out the Aerolite Cubs. Their 17' -21' models are 300 dry hitch weight or less. I bought the 24' model which only had a 300 dry hitch weight and weighed in at 3800 dry.
