Hey there, I am looking for feedback on the rockwood liteweights. Anyone have them ? Like them , dislike ? Is there another liteweight of higher quality out there ? There is nowhere around I can see one in person, I would have to order it, so I am afraid to take that jump.
I have been very disapointed in quality of other litweights I have looked at. Obviously they can't put in solid wood etc., in this weight range, but the least they could do is put a decent finish on cabinets and put moldings on properly, etc.
I recently had the Pilgrim suggested to me too, however again there is nowhere I can see one aroud. The only dealer within a couple of hours of me that even sells them does not even have one of another model to look at.

Friends had a Rockwood and they dumped after about 18 months of nothing but trouble. Slides leaked, plumbing leaked and it never was fixed.

Take a look at the Jayco Kiwi, or some of the Fleewood lightweights. Just remember that the term lightweight is only relative to other TTs and may only be a hundred lbs or so different from a heavyweight. Also lites are known to use materials and construction techniques that, while reducing weight, reduce strength. These units are probably not going to be "keepers" and one should consider trading them off in as little as 4-5 yrs.

Three years ago when looking at all the hybrids and decided the extra $$$$ for Thor's Aerolite Cubs was a money well spent. The over-all "fit & finish" is top notch. After 3 seasons and about 145 nights of camping It is holding up 100%. At the time of purchase Cub's were about $1-2K more than the low end hybrids. A big difference was the change to the 8' wide floor plans starting in 05'.

I have had my 2007 Rockwood Roo 17 hybrid trailer since 30 May 2007 and after numerous trips I am impressed with the quality of this brand by Forest River. They also make the Shamrock brand which is very similar. Before we bought, we compared various other makes of similar GVWR (3500 #)as our tow vehicle is a 2002 Honda Odyssey. We got more bang for our buck,higher quality components and significant attention to detail than other manufacturers offered. i.e. two queen beds w/heated mattresses, poleless foldouts, bigger washroom w/sink plus plus plus.

This hybrid is great to tow even when fully loaded. I use an equalizer hitch and a prodigy brake controller. It's a breeze to set up and we are happy with our choice.

I suggest that you pick a specific size (GVWR)trailer and go to an RV Show and compare the different manufacturers with this size in mind. You'd be surprized at the differences of similar type Hybrids. We picked well and have had good service from our Roo dealer.
