We are considering going with the Rockwood 2601ss and I was looking for any comments regarding this trailer.I was also wondering if the air conditioner was ducted or not. As you can tell we are just beginning to look so thanks in advance for any help.

From what I know, the 2601 AC is optional and IS ducted. The type of ducting used I do not know.
I have past experience with Rockwood trailers and did not have any problems with them. -------------------- John & Joyce and Libby the Yellow Lab. 2005 Kountry Star FW-35LKSA by Newmar. Congrats in the new trailer. We had a Rockwood previousley and no major issues. They are very good trailers and we have been extremely happy with Forest River. We are now on our second Forest River trailer with no complaints.

I noticed that everyone that replied had at least a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck. Has anyone on this forum used a 1/2 ton with a rockwood 5th wheel and if so, how did your truck handle it?

My previous trailer was a Rockwood 2701 5th wheel that I towed with a Dodge 1500. It did just fine. Now mine was the 7 1/2 ft wide version and was about 6100 lbs. Most of the newer 5th wheels are much heavier than mine was. The first thing you have watch is exceeding the GVWR with the hitch weight. My setup was within weight ratings and made for a good setup.

We pull our rockwood with a 1/2 ton, pulls okay. slows down when going up hills, I have not pulled when it has been windy. I think that a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton would be better. I will be replacing mine soon. |
