We recently acquired at 1988 Hi-Lo. We are slowly learning things about it. When we got back from last trip - left it up to do some cleaning, etc. and found that it would not lower. Safety bar appeared to be stuck. Husband crawled under and was able to pop out the safety bar and then inside pull the cable, the light came on and pushed the toggle switch to lower the trailer and it came down. Now it will not go up! When he pulls on the cable the light comes on, but when he hits the toggle switch up nothing happens. If he pushes the toggle switch for it to go down, he can hear the motor running to lower it - but it is already down. We have checked everywhere and he also crawled around with a 12 volt meter to see if there were any bad wires. Nothing out of ordinary. Battery is fully charged. Could the toggle switch be bad? Any advice? Thanks. Kerry

Not to sure,if lifter cables or chains are
used with your electronic lift system. My best guess is the cable or the chain is broken even though the motor would hum nothing will happen. The same thing can happen if there is a tangle or the lift is off the track.. Pete & Elaine |

Doesn't Hi-Lo use a hydraulic system? First thing to do is to check the pump and fluid levels. Do you see any spots where fluid has leaked. It is usually transmission fluid that is used.
Next is the pump running? And making pressure? Yo should have a book on the hydraulic system which will describe how to test and bypass the pump. I had a 1982 Hi-Low. It was starting to have the same problems. My solution was to buy another new trailer.
It had something to do with the battery! If you waited long enough or wiggles some of the cable/wires it worked. I did have to have the Hydraulic system worked on when I first got it. We had 5 good years with it. Make sure that all the wire/cable lifters are in the right position inside trailer, to pull it and up and down. I had one come off once. But be a single Mom, that was enough for me. Good luck. Sue |

The motor only runs to raise the top. It does not run while lowering. I would check the various cable connections. The motor is like a starter motor. It pulls a few amps.
