I have a 1994 Sea Breeze I bought back in May. I need some suggestions as to clean some of the debris (pine needles, leaves) lying on the screen of the vents. I tried to pull the screen down after unscrewing the to set screws and removing the crank handle, but the screen would not budge on one side. Help.

Are you talking about the screens that cover fan vents like Fantastic Fans?? If not, vaccuume from the top comes to mind.....

My Fantastic Fan screens are very similar to an Elixr fan we used to have. After the screws come out the screen drops on one side and is held in place at one point where the screen frame rests under the lift assembly. I can't imagine the screen being stuck in place beyond that.

BUT, in re-reading your message I see you refer to "the to set screws" -- if I read that right, you are saying that the screen appears to be held in place by two set screws? Unless the set screws are directly apart from one another, I suspect there is a third set screw concealed somehow OR, there may be a lip behind the screen that is held in place by pressure that could be releived by pulling the screen loose.

Sounds like we need to know the brand name, etc of the vent to see if someone has experience with that brand & model.

Arlie50,if you're having trouble getting the screen down,you could get a hair dryer and just blow the debris out.

To get the standard vent screen off, you need to remove the ceiling trim piece first. Then the screen can be removed. Blowing it off works well most of the time.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. After looking at the trim piece, I do believe that it will have to be removed in order to take the screen off. I will go with compressed air to clean. Thanks everyone.
