Hello, all

This is my first post on this forum. I own (partially) a 2004 Winnebago Journey. The front TV sizzled and smoked last month. Since then I have been trying to remove it for servicing, to no avail.

To this time I have done the following:
1. Checked that the AC was present at the plug.
2. Noted that when turned on, the red light flashes a code "2" (blinks twice, rests, blinks twice) Believe me, it is dead.
3. Removed the plastic formed shroud which hides the metal cage and wires from view.
4. Loosened the two clamps at the bottom front of the cage.
5. Determined that their removal doesn't loosen the tv in any way detectable.
6. Decided to get some help on this forum.

If there is anyone who can give me a clue, or better yet, a step by step set of instructions on how I may remove this defunct television from its cage, I would appreciate it.

Wendell

Wendell,

According to the parts breakdown located at:

http://www.winnebagoind.com/service/submenu/2004.htm

All 2004 Journeys have the clamp part index #13 in the Driver Compartment, Cabinets group on the top and not the bottom.

Take a look at the link above and open the parts manual for your model and try again.

Was your TV a RCA? My friend's RCA died within two years. Both my front and back RCA's died within 3 weeks of each other at end of warranty + three months. They seem to be made for display purposes only--otherwise junk. I was glad to get the heavy boat anchors out (114 lb and 56 lb respectively) and put in LCD replacements.

Sorry to hear about your problems with RCA. Don't know what to tell you but I have a 32" RCA that has worked flawlessly for nearly 20 years.

AA4WP, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here. I am sure you will get lots of help from our members. We hope you will be an active participant on the forums and even post some photos in the photo gallery. One thing I would recomend is a Surge Guard to protect all the electronics on board. Good luck and enjoy the website.

Most electrical things run on smoke....so if you let the smoke out it will most likely stop working..... Sorry
