I'm attaching a picture below (I hope, if I can figure it out) just to give you a view of options. We installed ours inside the water bay for a variety of reasons. Primarily to have it inside for safety from theft & freezing. Our Newmar came with just one filter and we wanted to double filter the water. We also had an issue with flow due to the filtering. Someone (think it was here on IRV2) showed where they had moved their pressure reg after all the filtering to improve the flow. We did it and it worked. Initially everything was outside in a rubbermaid box, but eventually moved inside for the above mentioned reasons.

Our pressure reg is to protect the plumbing connections inside the motor home. If you are concerned for your hose, you can get high pressure rated ones (200 psi I think) at many RV rallies and on-line. We haven't had a problem with the original hose. If we do, we will replace it with one of the high pressure ones. I would say that there is a park in Norman OK that we occasionally stay in that has pressure way over 100psi that we do use a hose mounted reg on, but this works well for all the rest.

We bought all our stuff including the pressure reg on-line. I think the cost for the reg was in the $55 area. Good luck in finding your best solution.

.....OK, took 3 tries, but think this time it will post. Smoke

I have a whole house regulator set for 50#. But, the water flow in the shower was still bad. In fact, I have had 2 prior heads just plug from crud in the water lines. Last week DW went Wal-Mart and brought home an 'Alsong' shower head.

Wowsie wow wow.

Water out the wazoo. 3 spray settings and they all shoot water at least 2 feet! And the pressure at this park is 40# or less.

Change those filters, Donna! Dang!

I was told that it's best to have the regulator after the filters, so that the higher pressure water can get through the filters most easily. Then the regulator in case of high pressure. We have the two-cannister system from the rvwaterfilterstore.com and love it!

Thanks Sarge. I just bought the Valteera regulator at CW. It was fairly easy to set the PSI to 65.

You guys are sure this PSI is safe, right? I despise plumbing problems! Sweat

I wouldn't go over 50psi. That is more than adequate.

The 65 psi is fine Craig. I have run in excess of 80 psi with out problems, but I wouldn't recommend doing it often. As a matter of fact, what got me off the nickel to do it now was that at the park I have been at here in Pomona the pressure is regularly 80+ psi. No issues with the plumbing, but I was leaking past the toilet bowl valve and slowly filling the toilet. That was the flag that I better get off the stick and get a regulator. I have it set at 60 psi now, and all is happy again. Including the DW. The screw on 40psi regulators are just not enough pressure for a modern RV. Your plumbing will be fine at 60/65 psi.

So DonnaB, where is your pressure gauge? I don't see it in your photo.

Check out that brass looking thing to the left of the filter canisters. It is sitting on it's side, but works that way too. Was just easier running the plumbing that way. I believe it comes preset to 50 psi, but then you can adjust to your preference. I think the brand is Watt. This particular unit holds a static pressure of 50 psi (or whatever your setting) which is why we chose it. Most of the hose mounted units don't maintain static pressure. That is, the $14 ones typically don't, but the $30+ ones probably do.

I like the water regulator and filter set up. Can you tell me more about the Regulator such as manufacturer and where you found it on line?

Thanks

Hi Tom,

I believe the manufacturer of the regulator we use is Watt. We bought the reg, filters and canisters from rvwebstore.com. They were very good to work with. If I'm remembering correctly....Don spoke with them first to find out the manuf info and then researched if it did what he wanted (i.e., maintain static pressure) before we bought. I see on their website it is available now at $49.95.

For the crud in the water that attacks the plumbing fixtures we have the on the go water softener. We chose it because of size and it uses a 1 pound box of table salt for the regen every week or so. After finding what we wanted, just did internet searching and found the best price. I think we got it via ebay from an ebay store.
