In my search I have not come across anyone with this exact problem. Microwave heats but unless I slam the door sometimes two or three times really hard, the light, turntable and fan dont work. I assume its not good to use the microwave oven with no the fan. Its a magic chef and is only a year and a half old. Anyone had this problem?

Steve,

Sounds like there is a door switch that isn't closing properly. Have you tried locating a switch activated by the door and then spraying some WD-40 into it to see if that doesn't clean it up?

Steve, it is definitely one of the door switches. If you feel comfortable workign on these kinds of things, you can look at hte switches and se if one has terminals that look to have been burnt. The plastic body of the switch will melt slightly and bulge out at the terminals. Replace that switch and you should be back in business.

There was a microwave oven recall about a year ago. Could your unit be one in that recall? As I remember, it had to do with the front panel controls not working, and the possibility it could start working without anyone touching the controls.

I think if you search this site on "microwave recall" you will get the proper information.

I dont think there was a recall on my model Frown

Anywho, I tried the wd 40 on the door latches >>>> all that did was add flavour to our lunch.
I do have one last question if anyone could please respond....

Can I go buy an ordinary microwave oven of the same size or are these microwave ovens especially designed for rvs and perhaps only sold at rv dealers??

Thanks

Steve
