Thanks for the many suggestions. We have the micro-mini blinds at the kitchen and toilet room window but don't want those at other windows...hard to keep clean and just waiting for Lucy to stick her paws in there and bend the slats.

I will check with the MCD folks tomorrow. Their website doesn't provide much detail. We also are considering good shades from either Lowe's or Home Depot.

In a former trailer we did some remodeling on, we got the stock cellular shades at Home Depot cut to width. They worked well with the trailer's side valences to hold them in place. I liked the double thickness for additional insulation and opacity, yet the fabric was light enough to give good light inside.

Instead of metal mini blinds you may want to consider what we did; custom wood mini blinds from justblinds.com. The mechanical parts are all metal and the wood matches our coach wood. I put a piece of velcro on the inside of the valance and edge of the blind where it doesn't show and there is no rattle or other noise. I like the fact that we can crack the blinds and have ventilation without a loss of privacy, and that they add to the residential feel. Not cheap, about $80 per window depending on size, but worth it for the quality.

I was just about to recommend what Keith just posted. A buddy of mine replaced his with some good quality wood blinds with 1" slats. I was amazed how nice it looked in his coach. If I ever dump my day/night shades I would go with wood.

While here at the Winnebago Grand National Rally, we too purchased two large shades from MCD - one each for the dining table and behind the sofa. DW saw them first and didn't have to work too hard to convince me. Hammer Big Grin

Warren, if you have dual pane windows you will want to be very careful with the foil backed insulation on the inside of the windows. This will reflect the heat and it builds up inside the air space of the window thereby cooking the the seals and causing a vapor leak in between the panes.

This is very interesting info. Thanks.

Same thing happen to me here at the GNR. A pair of those MCD electrics would be real nice up inside the windshield to eliminate those pleated blinds that always snag near the A-pillars (in my coach anyway).

I would probably have emptied the wallet if we didn't just spend $80 last month on the interior shades with the suction cups.

We eliminated our Day / Nights and installed Hunter Douglas Duettes. They are battery operated (so no wiring necessary) and have a remote to move them up and down. Did all the side windows and did two in front of the windshield to eliminate the pleated electric shade. Still use the pleated for the entrance door and for the driver's window.

This was a great upgrade and we are very happy with the results.

Maybe I missed something but, do you simply raise them to the top to keep them from moving and making noise while driving?
thx Smile
