I am in a campground hooked to 50 amp shore power. I have dim lights, but nothing else. The EMS shows that I am hooked to 50 amp. The inverter display reads "Inverter Off - Low Battery" How can that be after traveling for 8 hrs today? Does that mean my house batteries are dead? If my house batteries are dead, why doesn/t the shore power keep the interior lights burning bright, does the inverter keep the coach from receiving any shore power. If it is dead batteries, any suggestion how to get through the night with a little power to keep warm with until I can get new batteries tomorrow???

Tom....Without more info, this is hard to diagnose. I would fire up the generator and see what you have. I know it's late, but just give it a quick try and see what it does. You may have a stuck transfer switch and this will kick it over. Also check the circuit breakers on the inverter.
Unless you have been having battery issues, your coach is too new to have bad batteries already. If a battery has a bad cell or two, it can drag down everything. Finally, after trying the generator, unplug the shore line and reconnect. Sometimes it's like a computer and needs to reboot. Sounds like your "CONVERTER" needs to be looked at. Find you converter and with a multi meter measure how much power is going in and coming out. At least you will know how much power you have, and can diagnose from there.

I'm pretty sure Tom's coach doesn't have a converter.
Coaches with inverters use the batteries for 12v and the inverter keeps the batteries charged. As Don notes, check the inverter for 12v (actually around 14v) output to charge the batteries. __________________________ Adios, Dirk '07 Dutch Star 4029, '08 Yukon XL Escapees 64797, NKK 17897-L, FMCA 382762, Telephone Pioneers, ATA Navigation by Ouija Board My Current Location My DSDP |
