Its me again looking for your recommendations / guidance
On the Used Truck Camper (TC) that I am refurbishing -I need new Jacks -Current stock system has Three -Thinking of modifying and install quantity of 4 -Your thoughts ? I am evaluating Pros & Cons ( Mechanical or Electric Jacks ) -Mechanical Jack Pro in my mind is more dependable -Could use a Cordless drill -But then I think a good set of used Electric jacks would be grand Anyone has experience with Atwood Electric Jacks ? -Pros and cons As always your return web forum inputs are most appreciated -One day I will be in a position to give back -But at present being a Newbee its gaining lessons learned Have a great super bowl weekend John from Colfax NC |

If you have the choice, take the electric one, they are easier to operate. The manual one are good but are no good for your heart to use!?(very scary when it is windy) They are good if you don't remove your camper to often, it is a long process to go from one jack to the other going around the camper raising or lowering a few inch at a time.

I put electric on a few years ago and really like them. I had hydrolic jacks that were a lot lighter. Like Richard said it's a pain to run from one corner to the other and if it got out of level much you could see it moving away from the jack you are raising.(or towards it if lowering) With electric I have a remote. I put a level on the back & side on one corner. I stand there and watch the levels to keep the camper level. You can use 1, 2,or all 4 at a time. Cliff '01 3500 Ram QC CC HO 6sp. 4 electric jacks. It will be the best money you will ever spend......My $.02 worth.

I had electric jacks on my Lance. My former camper had hydraulic jacks. With the hydraulic jacks, my DW and I would go from the front to the back and pump the jacks 10 times on each side. We then moved to the front and repeat. This seemed to work fine. I then ordered the Lance with the remote-controlled electric jacks. I really liked the convenience of being able to do the job by myself by walking around the camper while lifting or lowering. My only issue was one of the electric jacks started moving at a different speed that the other three. I kept having to stop the lift and move individual jack to keep them all on the ground at the same time. I sold the camper before I ever figured out why the one was slower than the others.

Jacks normally travel at different speeds depending on the amount of weight that are on each individual corner.

Low voltage from a bad connection will cause the same result.
