Some manufacturers are claiming that certain models work well on short box pickups. They say this and yet when the camper is placed on the short box both tie down chains angle forward. That is to say the anchor point on the camper is behind the tiedown on the truck frame. With this set up the only thing stopping your camper from shifting ahead is the front of the box itself. The rear tie-downs on a long box are angled the opposite direction of the front tie-downs and help stop the camper from sliding ahead. This is something to look for if you want to put a camper on a SB pickup. Take care, Don.

We don't have that problem with our Shadow Cruiser, they angled like they should have. But that said, it doesn't matter anymore since I installed the Stable Lift.Smile

you never said which truck/camper setup you have.

on my 2500HD shortbox with a Lance 820 the front tie down angles back and the rear tie down angles forward (Happijacks).

A short box being 6 foot as opposed to a 8 foot bed?
The camper would fit on the 6 foot bed with no overhang? Or is overhang ok? Do you want to use the tailgate?

Our camper hangs out the back several feet and I remove the tailgate.

I was just wondering. I have seen units that actually fit inside the box. And the tailgate closes! I also have seen units that are so big they had a set of wheels on them.
