I'm thinking about adding dual wheels to my Chevy 2500 HD SRW truck, just for sake of tire blow out protection. When loaded I am a bit overweight, and feel that my tires are the weakest point. Has anyone ever done this conversion using the Arrowcraft adapters? What are the pros and cons? Thanks....

Camperguy,
I have a 2500HD also and looked into adding duals with adapters. I consulted a mechanic freind and he said the problem is that the outter wheel moved the vehicle weight to the smaller outter wheel bearing and reduces the load on the larger, stronger inner bearing. This could cause early bearing failure.
How much this has an effect I don't know.

Hope this helps. If you find an adapter manufacturer that has already addressed this problem I would be interested in looking at the conversion also.

According to my freind, he suggested changing out the entire rearend with a dually setup. Also gains the larger brake system and other components. Unfortunatly not inexpensive and results in two different type spares I would have to carry.

If both rear wheels in the dually arrangement have the same offset, the contact patch will be a fraction of an inch (actually, the thickness of one of the wheel's hub sections) outboard of the axle/brake hub mounting flange. Depending on the offset of the original single wheel, this may be outboard of the original contact patch. It depends upon the original wheel's offset.

Hey, any of you know the size of the magnum adaptors and how much they space out? I need to find out if these are around a 2" adapter. I intend to use them with a super single rim I have, vs duallies.
