Hi,
I have been offered a truck camper and need to figure out how to get it home. I don't have a truck or utility trailer but I plan to rent whatever I need. The camper is 20some years old and is on a non functioning truck at the moment. The only tool availabe is a plate jack(?) I can buy jacks or ramps or what ever but I have to have a "plan".
Here is a pic.

I don't have any experience with this type of job, but I'm thinking that a forklift might be the way to go. I'm assuming there's no jacks to go with that camper and that you just want to use it without a truck on your property? With a forklift you could lift it out of the current truck and place it in a rented truck. You could use tie-down straps to hold it on the truck for the ride to your property.

Is it an actual camper or just a shell? If it is a shell it will make the job a lot easier. Also does it have a floor in it? I have a method I use for loading & unloading a shell (canopy) Which may be adapted here.

There are what they call tripod jacks that can be used to lift the camper from the sides. An angle iron catches both sides and then you raise the camper and roll the truck out from under and set on another truck or trailer. If you have an RV dealer around they may have the tripod lifts and rent or loan them to you. Some people use two I perfer at least three jacks. You can also buy jacks and install them to use. ATwoods, Happy jacks, and others.

And one more method if it is not real heavy alot of friends and case of beer. Four or five big guys on each side, take it off and set on a trailer.
