Ihave a Lance 1130. Just the camper is 3788 pounds. With the truck I have 11,638.And Ford says I can go up to 11,200. And this is before I put in food, clothes and water.
Chet p.s. Welcome to the site! It's great to be retired! |

My 2003 dually is only rated for 11,200 I don't think a single is rated that high. The tires make the difference. Two E rated tires at 3415 (for good ones) don't add up to four at 2078. But you can upgrade to 19.5 for more tire cap. With the dually I have been as high as 13400 and the truck handled it fine.

We used to have a '01 F350 gasser SRW and an AFox 1150. We were about 1000# or more overweight. No accidents but never felt safe with the SRW. The A/T was useless going downhill, even using "stab braking" and lower gears. Brakes sometimes smoked.
We sold it and bought a Chev 3500HD D/A dually. Vast improvement. 2004 WI Sightseer 27C |

I noticed that the new Fords are higher rated than the old 99 F350 SRW I used to have, but I still think it'll be easy to overload the back tires. My 99 had the highest rated 16" tires you could buy on it and that limited the back axle to 6830 lbs (3415 per tire). My 11'10" 1998 Alpenlite camper with it's 2900lb brochure dry weight easily exceeded that rear axle limit when the water tank was full and I had normal gear loaded.
So I would suggest a smaller camper or a dually. I know I feel MUCH safer hauling my camper around with the dually. Harald 2000 F350 CC DRW 4x4 Lariat V10 with Alpenlite Pendelton 11'10" camper.
