Who makes a slide in unit for a 1 ton single rear wheel truck? My truck is registered for 9900 lbs. It weighs 7600 lbs. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Just about all of the manufacturers make campers that will be within the weight ratings for your truck.

Peruse the different company web sites and look around. Be aware that their posted weights will be lower than the "real world' weight by quite a bit. Figure on average anticipate at least 500-1000 lbs more when your all said and done with the additional stuff you add.

I don't know. I have hauler our 9' 10 Lance on two SRW trucks for many 10's of thousands of miles over the last 9 years.

We are looking at a new 9' 6" camper with a slide-out and we will be going to a dually. I'm not saying an SRW truck would not haul it. I just think a DRW will be much safer and more pleasant to drive with the heavier camper.

You'll never regret the move to training wheels. The First thing you will notice is how much less fatigued you will be when you get to the camp site. My shoulders used to bear the brunt of the stress. You honestly won't fear them corners!

I already regret having to get them (training wheels). 90% of my driving is without a 4,000 lb TC in the bed. I really don’t even like driving a 1-ton long wheel base SRW truck when I’m not hauling our camper. I would much rather be driving a small V6 SUV. But life is full of trade-offs and compromises.

I know a DRW will handle a large TC much better than a SRW. If I were hauling our camper 90% of the time instead of 10%, I would have bought a dually 9 years ago.

IF you are trying to stay within your GVWR, your choices will be severly limited. You have a 2,300 lb payload capacity, so my recommendation is a camper that weighs less than 2000 lbs. You will carry probably 500 lbs minimum worth of "stuff". I carry almost 1000 lbs of "stuff" in my camper including water, propane, etc.
Check out www.bigfootrv.com and look at the 15C9.5. It weighs 1970 lbs and as long as you don't get electric jacks, AC, generator, etc, you'll have a fighting chance of being close to your GVWR. I am assuming you aren't going to tow a trailer behind the package.
I did haul my 25C9.5 on my 2001.5 Dodge 2500 camper package truck (which was modified), but I was 1,400 lbs over GVWR BEFORE I hooked my trailer up. My camper on your truck would weigh in at around 10,900 lbs.

northstar is agreat camper very easy to have it built the way you want it ...just got anotherone in dec from the factory...owner rex is a hands on guy...jim

Well, I've never seen a Northstar, but I can confirm what the other poster says about Rex. I've had several emails back & forth with him. The other 2 companies that are the same when it comes to responsiveness, are SnowRiver & Alpenlite. I cannot comment on the quality of Alpenlite until I have seen their factory this summer, but I can tell you Snowriver is one of the best units on the market, if not the best. They are the only company that warantee's their slides for life & were the first to put a slide into a TC. You should be OK with virtually any camper under 10 ft on your truck.
