hello everyone.
my bigfoot came with a monitor panel built into the stove top range fan. you can push a button to display several system statuses such as battery voltage and tank levels. the battery voltage has 4 indicators, charge, good, fair, poor. just lately the indicator has been showing fair. checking the voltage at the battery terminals and at the distribution fuse panel shows 12.7 volts. thought this should be shown as "good" not "fair" on the monitor panel. some days the good indicator flickers then comes on. any suggestions as to whether there is bad connection at the monitor or is this a true measurement? 2003 Ram QC 3500 4x6 DRW HO CTD Gauges 6 spd RideRite 1999 2500 Bigfoot 10.6 slide-in, 1000W Yamaha. |

Was the camper plugged into "shore power" at the time? I have found that I will always get a "full" charge when plugged in.
Often times the monitor is a "best guess" type thing. I have has a good charge on my battery and 15 minutes later the thing was dead! The best thing about that panel is that it tells me when my black water tank is full. Chet It's great to be retired! |

I have the same type Mickey Mouse setup on mine. Indicator lights on the range vent hood. If and when the batteries are at 12.6+ it will show full charge, if it drops below that 12.5+ it will show fair. If the batteries are being charged from any source (motor/converter) pushing the button lights them all.
Fresh water and Grey water tanks indicators are reasonable, but the indicators for the black tank are ridiculous in their indications. As for the battery indicator lights well they are just that, indicators, go by what your meter reads. Depending on how far the batteries are from the panel, there could be a loss in the wire causing your problem. WillisVanguard VXL2000 Ford V10 Super Duty Just for Me and the Mrs. |

I have the solution, I purchased a 12v inverter at Canadian Tire that shows the voltage going into the inverter. You plug the inverter into a power outlet(you get to see the voltage of your batteries and you can power your 110v when not connected to shore power).
Hope this helps. Jeff |
