I was loading my camper and thought I would take some pictures of different things I have seen questions posted about. The link includes pictures of my Torklift Superhitch, 28in extension, Torklift tiedowns, Stablelift, it's bracket under the truck, and pictures of the relationhips of these parts to the other parts of the truck and ground. The pictures are big so I put them in an album on Yahoo with public access. Not beeing a computer wiz it was the easiest way for me to share. Take the time to look if have had question about the things listed it may help answer your questions. The pictures are of a 2003 Ford F350 Dually and 2003 AF 990 Camper, yours could be a little different than mine but this should give you a good idea of what these parts about.

Don, your post on irv2.com came at the right time. We just purchased a Saturn Vue and plan to tow it behind our f350/bigfoot, see:
http://duedall.fit.edu/yellow/bigfoot.htm I plan to purchase the torklift tow bar (we already use the torklift tie-downs); I assume I should also purchase the torklift receiver assembly too (correct?); currently I have the F350 factory receiver but it may not be strong enough for towing or may not configure correctly wiht the torklift tow bar. Also, what do you tow? If a vehicle do you use a braking system? If so what brand do you use. Again, those pictures you posted are real nice. Because the Bigfoot door is on the camper rear, I plan to make a "porch" which will be attached to the bottom of the Bigfoot; the scissor steps http://duedall.fit.edu/yellow/steps_new.htm then will be mounted on the side so that we can enter the camper without disconnecting the tow bar. Looking forward to hear from you. Iver (Hemi) |

I have both the Torklift Super hitch and the extension. You will need the Super hitch if you are planning on using the torklift extension. The extension is a twin tube set up and requires the twin tube reciever of the super hitch. The super hitch is huge compared to the factory reciever. Mine required drilling one or two more bolt holes each side to mount the hitch. I tow a Jeep (have 4 of them) on a trailer. I set the trailer up with angle iron to park the jeeps in the correct location each time so I have the same tongue weight each time I load one up. I used a tongue scale to set up for each Jeep. My extension is good for 650/6500 with out a WD. My tongue weight is set at 590, the heaviest Jeep and trailer weight just 6000. The trailer is set up with brakes on both axles, figured it takes four brakes to stop a Jeep driving it, it should have four brakes to stop it towing it. I have towed it all over the place and never had a problem with stopping or swaying. I can not see the trailer with the camper on the truck so I have Smart Tire Sensors in the trailer tires to alert me if some thing goes wrong. They relay the tire presure and temps to a little control panel on the dash. They work well. (These are what camping world is just begining to sell) I highly recomend them. I leave the trailer hooked up most of the time.I have been working on a design for folding steps that will work with my set up, for now just the bumper step and a 2 step folding lader set next to the tongue works well.

Thanks Don,
Yes I will buy all segments from Torklift. The tow bar or the extension will need to be a foot or so longer so that I can accommodate a 3 foot porch extension from the Bigfoot bumper ledge. This extension will allow the scissor steps to fold under the porch (when not in use) and not hit the hood of Saturn Vue....I need to put the design down on paper...I may send it to you for comment. Thanks again, Iver (Hemi) |

Don,
I see you are a belt AND suspenders type of guy... I'm kind of the same way. I left the rear happijacks on my truck. But I did take my tork lift hold downs off. I'm real happy with the stablelift unit both as a lifting unit and hold down.... Very nice job on the pictures. 2000 BigFoot 2500 10.6 2000 F-350 7.3lPSTK Diesel Dually |
