I agree with what everyone else has said here. I would be very concerned about accepting a repair job on a coach that I had spent so much money on. I would push for a total loss and then go out and buy another one. Who is to say that they repair your coach properly, but you run into problems next year. Every system and subsystem would have to be tested and retested. You could have a leak in the plumbing or an electrical wire that could be chaffed that you would never detect until after you accepted the repaired coach. They should pull every wall off and inspect every piece of equipment you have to do a proper job. Even if you did accept the coach I would make stipulations that you could go back and have other related repairs that you notice over the course of the next few years. If the insurance company does not agree then ask them to buy it off you for full price if they are so confident in its repairs. Laugh I would also spend a little money and speak to a lawyer to know your legal options.

JomarFL,
Sorry to hear about your accident, I know it is heart breaking to have a brand new coach wrecked. Everyone has given you excellent advice. Does your insurance policy cover full replacement value for the the first five years? If it does, I would push to have it declared totaled and an exact duplicate replacement be provided. A friend of mine had an accident at the beginning of this year towing a 5th wheel. His tow truck which was the current model year was declard totaled, bent frame. His insurance company gave him a check for the full purchase price of his truck since he had replacement value coverage. His 5th wheel only had a couple of thousand dollars of damage so it was fixed.

Well it's been almost 60 days since our accident in May and we finally got the call we were waiting for yesterday. Insurance is going to total the coach and has asked us to find a comparible model and email them the invoice, which we did today.

It's been a long 2 months with a lot of phone calls, meetings, emails, faxes and relentless searches on the internet to prove your point. We've been to "insurance school" more or less and hope I never have to go through this again. Our motor home was only 6 weeks new and it was tough fighting for a total loss.

We truly appreciate all the emails, advice and prayers. We hope to be back on the road next week at some point. We are moving up from the 08 Fleetwood Fiesta 33L, into the 08 Fleetwood Fiesta 34N, bunk model if it's approved. Big difference with interiors and the Grandkids will love the bunks we think.

Thanks again, your a bunch of great folks to have around when times get tough Smile

I am also happy that it brings closure to this part of your RV experience and look forward to reading about your new, more enjoyable experiences, which will soon begin again. Congratulations on your new 08 Fleetwood Fiesta 34N.
