The nitrogen assist rod(s) are weak. I replaced mine on my 96' Southwind, Its easy to do, they are usually held in place by a clip that fits over the ball socket, just pry it off with a small flat head screwdriver. Wear eye protection though as the clip will tend to fly off once its almost off. Don't worry about looseing it as the new one will have a replacement. Take the old one down to your local autoparts store and match it up with what they have. The new one will just snap back on with a hard push. When you take the old ones off you will probally notice that one of them will not have as much force or no force as the other, the nitrogen has leaked, and no longer gives as much assist.
