Did Bounder ever build 32 foot diesel powered models? How about any 34 foot diesels ? Please let me know what you thought of them if you had any experience. Thanks much, HarveyP

Harvey, I think that Bounder was available several years ago on a 36' length. Mid 90's. In that same time frame Winnebago had a 34 and a 36' available with a 5.9L

The Bounders had 4 speed allisons and were generaly underpowered (190 hp) and not that popular. The Winneys were also 5.9L and the 34' had a 4 speed and the 36' had the 6 speed.

All of these will get around 10-12 mpg.

A 5.9L Winny will make you a good cheep diesel pusher. Nothing fancy. Spring suspension, will go a lot of miles and not that much to mantain.

The problem with the short pushers is the wheelbase. If you try to obtain the 53% or higher it is impossible on a 32' pusher. The distance from the rear radiator to the axle is a given distance, and on a 32' M/H you just do not have that much room.

Dear jlb, Thanks, this is the sort of info I need to be reading. We are looking for a cheap pusher in the 32 to 34 foot size. Can anyone out there help me understand the wheelbase ratio enough to explain it to my wife and not sound like I'm making it all up?
Our need for the shorter size is to get parked in our kid's driveways in narrow-streeted Washington DC and Alexandria VA areas. Our 26 ft Class C gets in, but we need more storage space.

HARVEY, most RV experts agree that the length between your wheels should be as long as possible compared to the length of the rig. While add-ons can compensate, they can't really cure the bad handling that can occur when you have too much tail wagging the dog.

EXAMPLE: A 33' motor home on a 208" wheelbase chassis gives you a percentage of 52.5%. That is IMHO, MINNIMAL and I probably wouldn't buy it.
