I did not notice the problem when I first bought the rv. I wander if the problem is the access panel to the engine. Mine seems to have settled a bit.

WEJ - get the wooden dowels (5/16th) I believe and take your grills off- slide the dowels in and recap - the noise will go away -trust me!

All,
Sorry about not responding. Been pretty busy lately and have not haad time to looked at the forum. Thanks for all the input on the noise. I haven't tried bullrider's suggestion but it sure sound like it worth a try and a cheap fix to boot. I going to to try it this weekend. Again, Thanks for all the help and I will try to check in a little more often. Oh, by the way, we still love the RV. We have taken a few more trips and have had no other issues other than the noise. We get compliments where ever we go and it sure makes us feel good. Monty '08 Bounder 35 H |

We have an 08 Bounder 38P which also had wind noise. On asking factory tech about it, the suggestion is to remove grill, pull out end plugs from one end and fill with fine sand. The type used for sand blasting or in our case play sand was used. replace plugs and remount grill. This eliminates the harmonic noise at speed.

Hello Monty,
I am a little late, but had not checked in here the last few weeks. We have an 07 Fleetwood Revolution LE. Purchased it in February and put on 5000 miles in May and June. While traveling we noticed a wind noise in the right front area. Driving in the middle lane and being passed by traffic on the right I really heard the noise of the traffic passing me. While travelling at 55 mph I asked the wife to open the door and close it, thinking I might not have closed the door properly. That wasn't it, it did not help. I felt it might have something to do with a quartering wind from the right front, since it was not audible all the time. I asked Hertha to check inside the cupboard areas for wind or air - nothing noticed. Okay, to make a long, long investigation short: It was the door. We usually slam the door shut. Then, at a rest area, slammed it shut again, and then - just to see - I pushed against the door (from the outside) - it was not fully closed. Since then, assuring that the door is really closed properly, we never had the wind noise again. Slamming this particular door did not close properly when slammed. Hope this helps, Horst & Hertha 07 Revolution LE WB8YRY 70/70 |

My thanks to all of you for convincing me that I am not going nuts after all. We've had what I would call a harmonic resonance, kind of a moaning noise that varies in volume, up and down, but not in tone. When we get it, which is not all of the time, it comes on at about 55 mph. Sometimes it will last for a while, then go away for a while. Sometimes more speed will bring it on.
After reading all of your experiences, it sounds to me like it has to be some combination of coach speed-induced wind in conjunction with the existing natural wind, and blowing over some component in the front of the coach that is setting up this tremor, or whatever it is. We do notice that, since installing a 20" mud guard across the rear of the coach, it does not seem to be as frequent or pronounced. But about the time we're feeling smug, it comes back just to let us know it is still there. Maybe some of your ideas will help, although my grille is not made of tubing, so that one is out. I will check for the heat shields a couple of you have mentioned. Thanks again, all . . . I tried to take the easy route, (I thought) and fill the tubes with foam. What a mess. It was so messy I only did the main grill, not the upper or lower. It did help but the noise is not completely gone so I am going to fill the remainder but believe I will use the wooden dowels this time. I will let you know if that cures it.

Monty, our 06 Bounder 36Z has had this problem since we took delivery - but only between 60&65 mph (I don't usually drive faster than 65mph) and/or with a wind. Our main grill was already plugged with silicone caulk, so I took the lower part off & filled it also. This did help, but I still think it's a vibration problem in addition to the "whistling" effect. On our trip to Fla. earlier, I installed an inexpensive fiberglass bug screen (purchased at Wally World) to help keep the grill & engine cleaner and the noise went away. Seems the screen had something to do with eliminating the vibration of the grill. Just a theory - let me know what you think. Good Luck.
