DiRon,
When I installed the new Winegard 5 LNB Traveler antenna in May (and a brand new receiver), I couldn't get a good signal either-- I got the "acquiring signal" bit also. After talking with kids at Directv for about 2 hours, on 3 different phone calls, on my own, I switched my rear satellite receiver to the front. The picture came in immediately. I called Directv and told them they had sent me a bad H-21 receiver (a complete waste of time talking these with kids). Finally, I asked for a supervisor and she sent me a new receiver in two days, and a call tag for the bad unit. No problems since then! Good luck--- Max H 2002 Newmar Mountain Aire, 37', W-22, 8.1 Vortac, Ultra Power "stuff". 2006 Malibu. Wife-Cindy. Worthless Lab- Jessie (but we love her). |

I am shopping for an in-motion antenna. I'm wondering if one brand is any better than the others. Is there something I should look for or avoid?

Just be aware that NO in-motion antenna will allow you to receive the DirecTV HDTV programming. It might work OK with Dish Network but even that might be a challenge if Dish starts using 61.5 or the East Coast HD and 129 for the West.
Trac-Star is the leading technology for in-motion followed closely by the King Dome Trac-King which uses the Trac-Star technology to power their antennas. |
