We have DirecTV and are having a problem getting our satellite receiver to work in our 09 Phaeton. We did get a upgrade receiver so it would hook up but we get a message "acquiring guide data, more info"
Has anyone our there had similiar problem and what solves this problem?
Our Phaeton is brand new and we love it. Tiffin has been great to work with and they make an excellent product. This is our first RV and after all the research we did we believe we made the right decision with this one.

Need more information. Are you saying that during setup you get to this point and it stops or this is where you are starting from when turning it on? Has the receiver 'found' the sat?

Is it a self tracking dish?
Have you put in your coords or other info to allow tracking?

I just got the new 'regular' rcvr and it takes 2-3 minutes to get the guide. Have you given it time to do so? If so, just click "exit" and see if you have a picture.

I hope that by "updated receiver" you don't mean and HD receiver. I doubt that Tiffin would have installed one of the new HD capable antennas for DirecTV. If you have a dome, it can never receive HD from DirecTV.
If you go into the receivers menu look for a setup screen. If you have a dome you will need to setup the receive as a round dish (1 dual LNB) to get proper reception. You should also find a screen in there that lists signal strength. Are you showing any signal on any satellite?

Go into the setup of the reciever and set it to 2 LNB oval, I just re-read my instructions for my dish as I was having a problem of the dish not finding the sattelite and had to re-set my reciever.

Bill, perhaps it depends on the brand.

We have a Winegard Movin' View dome and the instructions that came with it say that for DirecTV, the dome "must be set to the two satellite, oval dish setting." So that's the way we set our receiver up, and it works just fine.

You are correct. Since Winegard no longer sells or supports the Movin' View though, this may not be an issue for other users.
Be sure to check your antenna owners manual as there may be similar unique setup requirements. This setup was used when the Winegard could move between 101 and 119 (DTV) and 110 and 119 (Dish) to cover the various programming.

There are only a few channel of HD programming left on the 110 and 119 satellites. Nearly all of the DTV HD programming is now on the 99 and 103 KA band satellites that your King Dome cannot receive. In the very near future, your King Dome will not be able to receive even the few (10 or less at this point) HD channels left on those satellites.

That is not the correct setting for a domed antenna or any antenna with only 1 (dual) LNB. The proper setting is round (despite the actual shape of your antenna).

Bill, my King Dome will not work on that setting. I have mine set to 3 LNB and it works well. It usually doesn't take too long finding the satellite. I really don't know anything these systems, but that is where I had to set mine to get it to work. I do not have, and probably will not get HDTV. Regular Direct is expensive enough for me.

Well, apparently things have changed recently and the information I posted is out of date. That's the way it "used" to work but it appears I have been out of that part of the TV loop for too long. Sorry.
I have deleted my previous post to avoid any possible confusion in the future.
