Ultra Leather DE Sofa Sleeper-Pass Side

Joe, since the opposing couch is a pull out sleeper, I am thinking the couch on the passenger side is a "jack-knife" couch?

Joe, congrats on ordering the new coach!

Wow! You can really see Tiffin's popularity growing. Your delivery is 10-12 weeks. The delivery for our Bay was only 6 weeks back in 2005 and I think that was before they made improvements to the manufacturing lines. Our first coach came in wrong so they put a rush on the second one and got it done in only 4 weeks, but that's another story.

You really need to go to Red Bay. We have been there twice - once before we ordered our Bay and again last year just for fun. We may go again this spring on our way north to check things out again.

We also took a Winnebago tour last year and we felt we spent most of our time on a bus with the tour guide telling us what was being done inside the buildings as we drove past. The Tiffin tour will be nothing like that. At Red Bay, you are right down on the factory floor most of the time. The poor workers have to wait patiently for the tour group to pass so they can get back to work. Red (the tour guide) will lead the tour in an entirely different direction if someone asks a question about something not on the regular route. It feels like you are a family member. If you can find out your build dates and visit during that time, they will help you find your coach on the line.

We also bought from Clem's and found them to be very straight forward, no pressure, and easy to deal with.

Best wishes on your new coach.

Bob,
The couch on the passenger side is called a DE Sofa Sleeper. I'm not sure what the DE stands for, but it is what I'd call a jack knife sofa.

The drivers couch can be ordered with the optional "Air coil Hide-A-Bed" which is the sofa that opens up like a conventional sofa bed with a thin mattress with built in air mattress on top.

In our family, two will sleep on the queen size hide-a-bed, and one on the passenger side jack knife. With the floor plan of the 43QRP, the jack knife sofa is 84" so there's plenty of length for sleeping. If you recall, my Journey only had a 60" jack knife sofa so it was getting to small as the kids grew.

Wow....this sounds exactly the way my Essex bed scenario played out and more often than not I let the kids sleep in the back and I slept out on the air mattress....With the quarter turn pump it's really effortless and even comfortable to sleep on...

Hurry and get your coach and figure out all the things you'd do the second time, and I'll do them! Jester

Paz,

Thanks for the advice about visiting Red Bay. the plant tour does sound like it would be great to do. We'll have to evaluate whether to try to visit when our rig is in production, or else plan a trip to Red Bay once we have the unit just to do the tour.

Clem's has done a great job for me. Right now, Brian is at the factory receiving training on the new rigs. Typically Clems rotates their sales and service personell through the factory so they all have the latest and greatest training.

It's encouraging that they take the time and spend the money to do training.

Joe - If you do go to Red Bay to take the plant tour I would suggest driving (7 miles) to the paint shop in Belmont, MS- where all Tiffins are painted. Tiffin built this new (approx 1 million sq ft) complex with about 15 bus size paint booths a few years ago. It is so clean that you could eat off of the epoxy coated floors. Similar to Red Bay, sign in at the guard shack, put on protective glasses and ear plugs, walk thru the complex and if you have a question any of the workers will answer you. This tour was well worth doing. Good luck and many happy, carefree miles! John

Nice floorplan Joe Big Hand Pushing the frig and lav sink into the slide really opens it up. I never did like watching TV looking up. The ground level (TV) one will be different. With the LCD technology now a days that gives couch builders more options in using space smartly. We bought our Coleman pop-up from Clem's thru Randy and Brian back in 99'. I remember looking them up on the web and calling and quoted a price that was $1800 cheaper than the Ohio dealers. I drove out the next day to put a deposit down. I didn't bargain at all.....It was a very good price.

Jim,

You'e absolutely right about the floorspace being opened up with the fridge and lav both going into the slide. We really liked the 42QRP that I test drove except I felt the fridge was a little too much in the hallway. With the side-by-side fridge, you sort of had to step past the fridge then open the door that hinged on the right. Certainly not a big deal, but when we saw the fridge locaton on the 43 we said WOW.

I'm glad to hear you were pleased with Randy and Brian at Clems. I bought my very first Class C motorhome through them and was extremely pleased with the professionalism of the dealer. If they had scarried what I wanted for the next two rigs I'd have probably gone back, but now that I'm moving Tiffin, I'm thrilled to be buying locally. They jsut seem like a good down to earth no hassle dealer.

I bought my first two RVs from Clems too. In line with other's experience with Randy and Brian, my purchase experiences were good from shopping through delivery and warranty service.

My wife wants a larger TT with slide out. So I'll be shopping at the Pittsburgh RV show in January, and I'll certainly stop by to see Randy and Brian too!
