We are new [to us] Tiffen owners having just upgraded to a 2005 Allegro Bus. The previous owner must have left some accessories out of this coach, and the owner's manual is not at all clear how to do this. The bus has no gravity fill for adding the bleach mixture to the tank, so the manual describes the use of the water pump suction to do this, but no detail and no photos. Without the required hardware to connect a mixing tank to the pump suction, and no by-pass pipe for the water filter, I am at a loss as how to do this. Is there a post or link that describes this with photos so that I can fabricate the suction apparatus and bypass for the filter?

Here is how I sanitize my fresh water system: http://www.rvbasics.com/techtips/sanitizing-your-rv-fresh-water-system.html Hopefully someone will chime in here soon on how to fabricate a winterizing system for your unit.

On our ALlegro Bus, there is a detachable fitting on the input side of the water pump which is located in the water bay. Included with the coach is a 3 foot long length of hose with a mating fitting that would screw onto the water pump. This hose attaches to the suction side of the pump and pulls teh sanitizing water solution from your jug and pumps it through the system.

If the hose is missing, your local home improvement store will have the nylon fitting and hose so you can make your own pretty inexpensively

Thanks Joe-K. I will take off the pump suction fitting and make a solution extractor tube based on your description. Any clues about the water filter bypass fitting that is mentioned but not detailed in the owner's manual?
Can I assume that the filter feeds water to the kitchen sink only?

On my Phaeton, the water pump suction method is ok for sanitizing your plumbing, but it won't put it in the fresh water tank. I got it in the tank by pouring bleach in the fresh water hose, connecting it to a faucet and turning on the water. Just don't put in too much. I did and I thought I'd never get it all out.

Hi Joe. I read a post on RV.net where someone had the same problem that I do, no gravity line to add bleach into your fresh water tank. He simply bought a Miracle-Gro or similar hose end sprayer to use as a reservoir for the bleach, unscrewed the spray nozzle, 3/4" male hose fitting, and screws his fresh water hose onto it. This way you can do the tank, the hose and all on-board plumbing. I purchased one and plan on doing just that for the spring sanitization.
